Well after almost two months of having a brick for a Stiletto. The warranty dept. delivered my 3rd Stiletto 100. I guess we will see how long this one lasts.

I would say your experience if very much so the exception rather than the rule especially if you compare the Stiletto to the S50.

I am still on my first one which remains problem free, so hopefully this one will do it for you. What happened to the other 2 that you felt you needed to swap them out? Just curious!

well the first stiletto lasted two days before the wheel became inop. the second was the problem that we had talked about earlier. locked up in the car dock did the software restore. but then then channels never came back. so we will see with this one.

I was updating my 100 today and the software from MSS would not load. The guy from Sirius had me do the hard shut down and options/display/power up thing, deleting all my stuff. When I reconnected to MSS, I get the message about device recovery. When the Sirius screen comes up and you have to click 'OK" to continue, there is no 'OK' to click. The Sirius rep left me on hold to check with his supervisor and was gone so long, I had to hang up. My three week old stiletto is now frozen with the error message and no way to recover the software. Anyone else experience this and any ideas what to do next? Thanks.

Gosh these people are so poorly trained. The sad fact is that without being able to get the MSS software to load, you can't do the Recovery Procedure. Do you have access to another computer with internet? I'd try install it on there and then running the recovery again.

DAB,

I think we should update the first post on this thread, to note this before anyone tries to do a recovery. Put in a step 0 to test the MSS connection and install MSS to your computer before doing the actual recovery. I know if the stiletto is completely hosed, it won't connect, but for those that have stiletto's partially working, they can test the connection before making the final decision to try the recovery.

This is more common than you may think. I know Taylor at TSS has replaced people's stiletto's when they could not do a recovery. The fact was their PC was so screwed up, where their USB ports would not recognize the stiletto.

Done....

Just to wanted to clarify that TSS should not be expected to swap out all these tuners that fail to update. You really should contact SIRIUS warranty exchange or the store in which you purchased it.

I assume this works for the S2? I keep getting a weird windows screen instead of the Stiletto recovery screen. It is a found new hardware screen.

No, you must install the recovery program, which is a totally separate program now! The previous version of the MSS autoamtically installed this program, but now it is separate.

Anyone that feels the necessity to do the recovery, need to have their CD that comes with it or download it off the web site.

Default Is it too much to ask?!?!?!

Is it really too much to ask for some information?? I know little things like changing the recovery procedure might not be that important but sometimes people might like to know stuff, just to feel informed!!!

I did a recovery on my 100 tonight, but didn't know anything about the need to download the software for the new procedure. I suppose it's my fault for not calling Mel and asking him if anything has changed recently. I'll try better next time, does anyone have his home number and his cell, just in case??

If it wasn't for SBS, I never would've thought to go and poke around sirius.com for any ideas, where it does say that the recovery procedure is for the 10/100/2. Had there been any thing posted or email, (wasn't there some sort of rumor about having email alerts or something?) I certainly would have been saved the trouble of trying to plan my morning so that I was at CC when they opened.

DAB, Mike, and the other mod's and members, thank you... If there hadn't been this around, because we all know that CSR's don't know anything, I might have chewed some poor person out about my new brick!!!

The moral of the story...If you haven't done so now, DOWNLOAD THE NEW RECOVERY PROCEDURE AND KEEP IT HANDY, you will not be able to recover with out it...

Is this included on the CD that comes with the SL2? I didn't see it.

I was just going to install it and it was going to put on MSS, and WM Player 10. So I exited the install.

I do have the current MSS that I downloaded.

edit: I just explored the CD that came with the SL2. The MSS on there is 1.5.48240. I have 1.5.0.49321 that I got off the Sirius website.

Also, the Device Recovery is on the CD. I only installed that.

I did the install process for the Device recovery. One thing. I don't see the recovery application listed in my computer anywhere ? I did not notice it on the programs list. Should it be somewhere else ? I clicked on the finish button at the end of the install process so I'm sure that I have it. On the latest version of MSS clicking on "help". You can access the Stiletto owners manual from there. Also lists the recovery process in the manual now. As I'm sure many already know this.
