Default Do u guys ever turn off your stiletto?

Ok, my stiletto has crashed three times upon restart while i have either switched the battery or turned it off. I usually always use sleep mode except for these three times. Am I doing something wrong? What is the proper way to get the unit to stop so I can switch the batteries? For example, Im listening to satellite, how to I turn the unit off while im listening? If I go to the "home" menu, the satellite music is still playing, and I turned it off, and upon restart it gave me the "!error" Anyone have any advice?

The only time I do a full shutdown on mine is when I switch batteries. To do a full shutdown, hold the on/off switch down for at least five seconds (if you do it with earbuds in, you'll hear a popping sound when it turns fully off).

does your stilleto turn on right away upon inserting a fresh battery? or does it wait for you to slide the power switch? (mine turns on as soon as the battery is inserted)

Turns on as soon as you insert the battery. I also always put mine in sleep mode 95% of the time. I only do a hard shut down if I know I am going several hours without using it while away from a dock, though that rarely happens. I do occasionally just shut it down just for the heck of it, sort of like Windows just to clean everything up. LOL

I do find doing a hard shut down requires I hold the button down longer than 5 seconds sometimes. Not sure why this is.

Well I think mine is officially dead. Instead of the familar error screen, i get just a white box on a black background. Even holding the option and display buttons while turning the unit on, i cant get past the white box. Recovery program says I cant be helped. I guess Im off to CC to return. (This time I will NEVER turn off my stilleto again.) Thanks for your replys

Yeah, despite what many want to believe here, my first Stiletto could not be "reset" either..just return it.

What is your battery level? I wonder if your batteries are not charging and now it is too week to even turn on. The white box is the error message about shutting down. All the boxes look white when there is not enough power.

Looks scary. Thankfully I have the CC extended warranty.

That pic makes me disagree with this article even more:

Obviously, they never owned an S50.

I also have the CC extended warranty. But guess what? No CC within 100 miles of me has a stiletto in stock. RRRRRRRR..., should I take it in anyway?

I guess I must be a little different. I don't use the sleep mode. I don't really like that feature. I prefer to turn the unit off all the way. I've only had my 100 for two days. It's been smooth sailing thus far. I do agree you have to hold the switch down for at least ten seconds for it to turn off. As I have heard others mention this. So I don't think that makes it defective or anything. Just something they will need to improve on the next generation.

When in the car dock, I use sleep mode as my 12V is on all the time. For Home dock, I tend to leave on all the time and just do the "Yank" when going from home to car or Home to WiFi or portable. In the Home dock, I tend just to turn off the radio it's connected to leaving the home dock on. I have not seen the white box ever. If it were me, i'd try the reset procedure to see if that may fix the issue.
