Default Soloist on Sale

I see its on sale at Crutchfield for $129.99. I'm thinking I'll wait for this, since I've heard mixed reviews and opinions on this.

Good catch. When I save up some money I may replace my home dock with the Soloist.

Wow nice price.... I like my Soloist, but it isn't a perfect docking setup especially if you plan to do a lot of recording from it. In fact if that is the case I don't even recommend it. You'll just be very, very frustrated.

However, if you are interested in the sleep mode and alarm clock setup with GREAT sound, it is hard to beat the small footprint this baby offers.

I also think they should have offered these things from the get go for $99.99 to $119.99, Crutchfield has it close.

Why will we be frustrated with the recording? I was on my way to BB to pick this up and read this post. I was able to find one Home Dock as well. I want to be able to record but thought the speakers and alarm clock was a nice addition. Recording may be my biggest need for the home dock.

The scheduled recordings can be a pain as you need to program the Soloist to wake up before the scheduled recordings begin and shut down after they end.

To use the Love Button, you already have the soloist on and are listening to the radio.

I took mine back and went with the home dock.

With the home dock you set it and forget it. Works beautifully.

The Soloist doesn't provide the juice needed to wake up the Stiletto in order to record. You now have two choices: leave the Soloist on 24 hours a day or set an ADDITIONAL recording schedule up everytime you want to record.

The Soloist COULD have been a nice product but IMO falls short in this aspect. The sound is decent and the other features are nice. Considering all of this the Soloist is overpriced considering the poor recording setup.

I too returned mine and went with a Stereo Alarm Clock Radio which had better Sleep timer and Alarm Features The Clock Display is much bigger and dims better. It also has ear phone Jack and Aux Input jack to plug input from Home dock. Recordings will happen even If I'm not listening to the Stiletto. The sound is not as good as the soloist, but then again that was not one of my issues with the soloist. Price wise it was about a wash if I include the cost of the Home Dock with the Radio.

Question about the Soloist....Does it only operate with a/c power or is there a place for batteries?

Thanks for the help.
