Default WiFi troubles

I am having major issues. I can't really figure out what my password is for my wireless router. My 2 laptops connect with no problem but I can not get the stilleto to connect.

Any suggestions.

Thanks in advance

Do you have any instructions for your modem?

I know with my Linksys I can type the basic IP in my browser and I get to the settings and I can see what the passwords are.

With my older one I used the CD that came with the unit and found out the password that way.

Yup. I have the IP address. My modems list 8 different passwords. 4 are for 16bit encryption and the other 4 are for 128 bit encryption. I have tried all the ones listed whether they checked or not.

It is just confusing to me which is odd since I haven't had any trouble setting up countless laptops on several different modems and houses.

I am not sure about this, maybe someone who is more technical than me can chime in. But, I made sure when I added my password in the Stiletto I used lower case letters because that's how my router had them. I am not sure if it even matters.

Very, very odd.

I entered the correct WEP key (I am guessing that is my password) and it finally connected. Although it has connected more than once at this point it will not always connect even with a full signal bar.

I am what appears to be connected (because the screen says so) no matter what channel I go to the screen says, Channel Unavailable, Service Not Reachable.

I don't know about your router configuration, because I know a router sometimes will connect and then if the security key/password isn't correct it will then drop you, causing you to get the channel unavailable. But to even complicate this more, there was a tiny batch of Stilettos that have this problem and it was suggested they should be swapped out. Which one of these is your situation I can't say. I know mine connects flawlessly to the routers and networks that support the Stiletto requirements as listed in the manual.

Default Routers

Most if not all routers are case sensative for both the SSID and the WEP/WPA.

You might also make sure your router is in both 802.11g and 802.11b mode.

I didn't read it, I announced it myself from information I received from a contact. Those that have had this problem that swapped them out no longer had the problem, so that pretty much proved the contact was correct. However, I wouldn't swap it unless you know for a fact your router is correctly setup. noshooz below makes an excellent point, so make sure of that. Once you confirm it is not the router then bring it back.

yup the router is both b and g.

I might try panera bread or another wifi network in my area.

plus my stilleto box is at my office so I wouldn't be able to return it today anyway.

Default WiFi troubles Updated

Well I swapped out my Stilleto for a new one. It was pretty easy at Best Buy and it is a good thing because this new one doesn't work either.

I can connect to my network fine but the screen still says "Channel Unavailable Service Not Reachable"

Tech support is not open until tomorrow.

Yippie

And MSS software nor WiFi will update my firmware.

It seems to me this is more than likely your router at this point. What is your ZAP version?

My ZAP version is 1.0.0.16487r
OS: 1.0.1.16645
Baseband 00.07.38
Boot Loader:P 16645

I tired connecting to the Best Buy network and it produced the same result. Channel Unavailable, etc.
