Default antenna headset comfort/fashion ???

So I shave my head everyday. So when I wear the antenna headset it tends to look pretty funny with nothing else on my head. Particilarly becuase as we all know it is not really the shape of our head. I found a few things to ease my pain. Often I wear a wool type hat, and sometimes a more baseball type style hat. I find the headset looks more acceptable on my head if I have some type of hat on. It kind of breaks the look up. So people don't focus right on the headset. It's like they see the hat as the more noticeable thing on your head. That is one thing that I think helps the look. I also wanted to address the earbud that actually goes in your ear. Of course those that have the 100 know this can get pretty uncomfortable. I found something that does seem to help some. Take some other standard ear buds, and take off the material that covers them. Put it on your antenna headset earbuds. My material fits on the headset earbuds about 3/4 of the way. I've been trying to seat the antenna earbud in the pocket of my ear rather than the canal area or just inside the lobes. Ya know what I mean. One thing that is a pain is they tend to move around on the top of your head. If you adjust it too tight than it grips your ear canal area too tightly. Adjust it too loose, and it moves around too much. It's hard to find just the right adjustment size. Does anyone have any other tips that seems to help with the look or comfort of these darn things? Or any other observations to point out. I am trying to have a positive outlook that someone will design a better headset in the upcoming year, but for now I'm pretty sure I can make due with what we got.

Since I think we all agree that the headset needs improving. I hope each, and every Stiletto owner makes it a point to contact Sirius. To give them feedback. That way they will be more likely to create a second generation headset.

I have tossed the headset aside about 7 weeks ago. I really don't find much of a difference in reception anyway. For $350 they could have come up with a much better headset. Did any testers wear it for more than 15 minutes?

I wore mine for about an hour or so Sunday doing yard work (I usually use wi-fi when in the yard but wanted to listen to NFL games, which weren't on wi-fi-available channels). Two hours after I'd taken them off I could still feel the lingering pain in my ears. Oh, the sacrifices we make to listen to live Sirius. Hey, I just discovered the definition of a true Sirius addict -- someone willing to wear the "painphones" for an hour or more in one stretch.

MS has packaged a great set of earbuds with their zune - for $400 bucks Sirius could do a better job with headphones/earbuds - they are cheap P'sOS.

I do the same, wear them in the yard doing leaves/grass while listening to the games. Or use my favorite earbuds (stock ones never got opened) and wrap the painphones around my neck for the antenna, and keep the unit in my pocket or beltclip.
Some Third party is going to make a fortune with a new headset/antenna arrangement when it hits the open market and/or the first one to create a standalone antenna system, without a dock

Yeah. When I use sat mode. Most of the time I am walking around town. I also want to use it while biking. Usually I wear a helmet. I have not tried it yet with the headset on. I'm not sure if I am going to be able to make that work or not. I can't pick up the signal very well without the headset. I think the longest I have had the headset on is for about 15-20 minutes at one time. Like I stated in my original post I found some ways to ease the pain a little. It is just so cool to walk around, and continue to listen to the live feed. I had been bugging Sirius for a while to release just this type of radio. I just got my home dock. I find it compliments the 100 nicely. Cheers to a second generation headset.

All I do is keep the headset around my neck (full volume) and I get a signal without pain while walking Boomer.

yea, thats the ticket. A separate portable antenna with a short cable and methods to attach to biking helmets, back packs, chrome domes and such.

This was posted awhile ago for a motorcycle.

I had a post a month or so back on how I put the antenna headphones in my baseball hat and used my good earbuds plugged into the other jack.

I think a small portable antenna is in order with a Velcro backing that could be used in helmets hats backpacks or any other non-permanent installation.

I agree! This would be a big seller, especially if you add a spot to plug in a power cord (since the antenna connect would block it), pair it up with an FM-Transmitter and you have an easy way to take the Stiletto on a trip with a rental car.

This is one area that I cannot find a real way to defend their decision on the headset design. Just ZERO reason for it being that bad.

I think I have some good news... I tried me_rubin's idea of a satellite baseball cap and I think I've done it... I took the previously-broken pieces, glued it onto the cap and it works. All I need to do is wait until my PDA is charged all the way up and I'll get pictures.

The only thing is... it's not a baseball cap. It's the top of a jacket hoody.

They seemed to have just modeled them after the Belkin one that XM has and they should have thought out of the box and came up with a comfortable alternative design.
