Default Short Patch Cable ????

Hello,

First post here, been reading for about a month (since I got the Stiletto 100) and the forum is great, very helpful....

Anyhow I searched and really didn't see exactly what I am looking for (other than maybe making, but would prefer not to)....

I need a short (4 to 8 ft) antenna patch cable for my home dock install. I ran the Directed Home antenna through my attic and the wire down through the wall. Now I want to terminate the antenna wire at a jack plate on the wall and then run the "short patch cable" from the wall plate to the home dock.

So I need male on one end and female on the other end with about 4 to 8 ft of wire inbetween.

Does this exist? Seems like it would but haven't been able to find any cables other than the 50 ft one.

Thanks in advance.

TSS sells a 20' Vehicle Antenna Extension Cable which is about as short as I've seen.

The other option is to get the ends and make them yourself. You will spend as much or more going that route.

Do a Google for smb patch cable, but they will be like 30-40 bucks for a 3-5 foot patch - almost custom made, you can make them yourself, if your comfortable working with connectors and cable that small.
Make sure you get the correct ends.

Send a private message to brianrwebb. He makes custom cables to fit any needs you may have. I have bought a cable from him and it was perfect.

I am so there. I could use a 5' cable in my office, but I'll take the 20' and coil the extra. I'm sure I'll be able to use it in other places too.

Look out TSS, you'll be able to close early after this sale!

Thanks for the comments and info so far.... I am not opposed to making my own cables, I am pretty "making crap" inclined.... I started looking through www.Digi-key.com using the SMB phase (I did not know that previously, so that helped alot...

There appears to be lots of SMB cables available from Digi-Key, actually too many options to figure out which one is right.

Check out these catalog pages

http://dkc3.digikey.com/PDF/T063/0330.pdf
http://dkc3.digikey.com/PDF/T063/0331.pdf

Does the "Cable Type" matter? RG-316, RG-179, etc......
Does 50 ohm or 75 ohm matter?

I am not 100% sure this will be your solution but I have been extremely pleased with this companies products. So much that instead of financing my internet, cable tv, phone and speaker system with what home depot offers I instead had to go to a real electrical supply house and buy this product.

http://www.passandseymour.com/

I have one of their On-Q type boxes where I wired all electrical (except actual power outlets) through their box and have a nice clean and neat wiring system.

When I was doing this project I didn't for see satellite radio in my future (now I wish I did) and was amazed at all the products they sold that I potentially had a use for whether it was my current house or my next one.

When I went through there catalog back then they had a ton of wiring (adapters/cable connectors) that I didn't know what half the stuff was.

I can see them possibly having connectors and wire for what you are thinking of doing.

Hell they even had fiber-optic termination fittings for mounting in a wall.

I am definitely going with them next time as I will probably be doing a rack system for my theater/networking needs.
