Default Stiletto turns off by itself

I am a little confused by this. I have come out of my office a bunch of times to see my radio turned off. Probably in sleep mode but it is confusing why it would do this. It is connected to power, etc.

What really bothers me is that if I have a show scheduled to record it will not record the show until I get in my car and turn it on.

Am I missing something.

BTW this is my second stilleto and both have done this so I have to me missing something.

When you come out of your office where is the Stiletto. If it's in the car dock it automatically sleeps 15 seconds after the ignition is cut off and will not record. In the home dock it should stay on.

That is odd. On 2 seperate occasions I recorded Jackie's Joke Hunt show and got the whole thing. Each time was over 1/2 of not having the car running.

It seems to shut off in the car dock after a few hours of not touching it. I think it is something like 3 or 4 hours. I've been on the road listening to Howard on some long drives and then it just goes off. Something like 4 hours.

I think someone pointed this out as some type of Battery protection so your car battery does not die should you leave it on.

Yes this was indeed confirmed there is a non configurable auto shut-off after 4 hours of inactivity.

I'm seeing the auto cutoff while my S100 is in my Soloist, as long as I've not scheduled a recording, and haven't done anything in a long while. Seems strange that it would do it while in an AC powered dock?

The reason this happens is because for whatever reason the Stiletto thinks it is in a car dock when it is in the Soloist. How do I know this, because when I was using a loaner Stiletto it had diagnostics built in and it would indentify the type dock. The Solist always showed up as a car dock. The other proof of that is whatever changes you make the Stiletto, say the brightness of the display, then take it out to your car dock, it will remember it. Yet undocked or plugged into the home kit and it will remeber the settings from that dock.

Angry

After reading several postings about the stilleto falling asleep in the car dock I am still confused. Is this problem going to be corrected or not. If not, then I will be heading back to Circuit City with my receipt in hand. Its very simple, I want to record Howard; if this thing shuts off and won't wake itself up to record the show I don't want it. Back to the S50 for me.

As for the multiple responses about protecting the cars battery, give me a break. I have had my S50 for well over a year, at times it has been in the cradle for 1-2 weeks + at a time while powered on and my car starts just fine. It is really unfortunate, I like all of the features the stilleto has, but this is a deal breaker.

I just finished speaking with Sirius Stiletto tech support, and they seemed to be unaware of any dissatisfaction with the annoying auto off feature of the vehicle dock. They said if they recieve enough complaints they would consider doing a software update to correct this. Tech support phone # is 800-869-5364.

No one can say for sure if they will ever remove or make the auto shut-off user configurable. I would shoot for the latter as I think that is the way it should have been setup to begin with.

The reason for doing what they did is indeed to protect the battery, even if that makes no sense to you.

The S50 never killed any batteries and it didn't even have a sleep mode like the stiletto does! They need to remove this "feature", or give the user a choice. in the meantime, scheduling another 6 hour recording overnight should hopefully be a quick fix.

I just called and told them to report it to someone as a complaint, I also mentioned that if they are doing it to protect the battery life in a vehicle, why didn't they make it like a 12 hour cutoff instead of 4. I wonder if you can get inside the car dock and disable something.

Thanks! I just called and voiced my concern on the topic.

Cool

I am returning it... I will check back later to see if the problem has been fixed. Get your act together sirius. First not enough product to support demand, now your new toy is not up to par.
