Default Car Dock reception/fm transmitter?-Lexus

I can't get good reception on my lexus gs system with the car dock (although it was fine with my iPod fm transmitter). I don't think I can do a hard wire but could use the cassette in a pinch. Could it be the unit or are other people having similar issues.

Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving

Jim

Sorry to burst your bubble brn2rnjk1, but after the FCC crackdown on FM transmitters in Satellite Radios, it makes the FM transmitter absolutely useless. And yes... save a lot of time by just putting the cassette adapter in and plugging it in to the back of the Stiletto dock.

If you can't hook an audio line-in to your car's sound system, another option that's an improvement over the Stiletto's FM transmitter is an FM Direct Adaptor ("FM relay") that plugs directly into your car's antenna cable:

It's designed to plug into your Stiletto car dock's "FM Out" connector.

That means opening it up the consol, I assume. But I may have to look into it.

Jim
Best Buy will do it for under $30. They did a fantastic job on mine.

Yup. But if you don't want to do it yourself, I'd recommend taking it to a shop that has experience with your kind of vehicle or the dealer. Either way, it's likely to be an hour's charge for labor and well worth it in the long run. You could also use the FM adaptor for successors to the Stiletto down the road.

The tape adapter is better if you have a tape player. The FM relay is STILL through the antenna and the gain SHOULD be better through the tape deck.

I really didn't care for the cassette adapter. To me it sounded distorted (and looked ghetto.) I like the FM relay better.
