Default What do I want? Stilletto or S50? How can I run it through my current setup?

I'm contemplating the S50 or the Stiletto. I want to add this to my car for the following main uses...

Record songs
Auto record shows
Viewing whats on other stations without switching

I'm sure I will eventually use it as a portable but primarily it will be used in my car. Benefits of the S50 is the cost ($129 if I order by tomorrow) and it stores alot more than the Stiletto SL10. But I hear there are bugs in the S50. What unit would be best for me? Cost is a big factor.

Also I currently have Sirius in my car which is run through my headunit which is an Alpine touchscreen video player. Is there anyway to hardwire install the S50/Stiletto and still retain Sirius control through my Alpine (dual control)? Or would it just run through the AUX in my Alpine? Antenna is already installed, so for hardwire would it just consist of taking the sirius plug from my alpine to my new portable and wiring for power?

Also, what about activation? Are there any fees or what does it take to switch from my alpine to this unit?

Default Go for the Stiletto!

Stiletto. Stiletto. Stiletto.

Based on the odds, you're safer with the Stiletto over the S50. I am just one of the many here that had gone through multiple S50's in only a couple of months. My hunch is that the S50 will be phased out within a relatively short amount of time. (Within a year or two? . . It's just a guess based on no evidence.) (I wouldn't be surprised to see contradictions to this idea in a follow-up post, but I trust my gut.)

If you went the S50 route and did have to upgrade to the Stiletto, you would have to go out and buy all new docks for recording. If cost is a big factor, do it properly the first time, spend a few more bucks now, and then you won't have to spend it all over again later. I have 2 S50 home docks that are worthless. I bought the extended service plan at CC and that's the only reason that I'm not stuck with a black acrylic brick and a car dock too.

I really liked my S50, and wish I could have kept it, but the Stiletto is a much more stable unit. You're into recording, and the Stiletto has much more memory than the S50. I had filled my S50 to capacity in less than 2 weeks, and I never scheduled any program recordings.

Do yourself a favor and go Stiletto.
