Default Stiletto 100 Reception In NYC

Hi. I already have three Sirius subs and thinking about adding the Stiletto 100 to my collection. Can anyone comment on the signal/reception quality of this unit in NYC, specifically in northeast Queens? I plan to use it with just the ear buds, not the antenna headphones. Also, is the ear bud jack a standard 3.5mm mini jack? It would be nice if I could use this jack to connect to a cassette adapter or a PNP boom box.

TIA....JL

the jack is the standard headphone jack. Cassette adapters should work fine. I have used my ipod earbuds with it as the earbuds that come with it aren't all that great IMHO. I live in MD so can't comment on signal in NY.

www.dogstarradio.com/sirius_map.php is a map where you can see where repeaters work best; sometimes, if there's a repeater near you, you can just use earbuds, but if not you have to use antenna headphones unless you feel like holding the stiletto upwards.

Thanks for the link. If a neighbor is within a "blue circle", does that mean a repeater covers that area?

TIA....JL

It sure does. It goes for the blue circle, red circle and green circle too.

I live within a blue "active repeater" circle and I work a few miles away within the same blue circle. I get no repeater signal whatsoever in either location.

Default I just wish the repeaters would work!

No matter how close you are to a repeater, it would be nice if they worked!

I have one less than 3 miles from my house, but it has not worked in over a year. I'm certainly well within the blue circle. I'm sure this was put in to give coverage to Dulles International Airport which is the center of the circle.

Agreed; the Manhattan area is fantastic for this unit. Unfortunately, the moment you walk one foot out of this borough you have a better chance of seeing Batman than receiving a signal.
