Post Hurray for FM Direct Adapter

Man, my fm transmitter was horrible. The static drove me to throw my Stiletto in the glove box until my local Best Buy got the adapter in stock. Well it finally was available last night. I bought it and installed it and cant believe the difference! Wow! For those of you that live in Bugtussel, you probably wont need to get one as mentioned elsewhere in this forum. But for those of us that do not live with chicks and ducks and pigs and goats, its a must! Or better yet, the aux connection would be ideal. So quit screwin around with that stupid fm transmitter and get on the stick. Mine was so bad,I used to have to run my windshield wipers to knock out the static for about 5 seconds. Unbelievable!

I hear ya. When I got around to installing the adapter on my first Sirius install a couple years ago, it made a world of difference. I went from thinking that Sirius was just OK to being convinced that it was the best money I have ever spent on accessories for my car!

I have the car docking station for the Stiletto 100. I have a 1996 Ford Explorer, how tough is it to install the FM transmitter? Does it interfere with the regular FM stations in case I want to listen to them? Also, does it interfere with the AM stations because I do listen to a couple AM stations as well.

The install is relatively easy. This is what me_rubin did:

Here's another stupid question, I have a JVC radio that is Sirius ready. Will that make the install with the Stiletto any easier? I might try the FM thingymabob to see if it helps. I think I might have enough room behind my stereo to put everything out of the way.

It would be if you bought this:

Do you have an AUX input?

Yes, it does have an aux connection on the front of the headset.

All you need is a male to male stereo 3/32" cable like this:

http://www.tss-radio.com/mini-cable-p-3840.html

Plug one end into the AUX input and the other to the Stiletto car dock "line out" and you'll be good to go.

I hope you are right, I am heading out the door soon to run to Radio Shack and find it. Thanks for the help. This will take care of the hissing?

I should of aksed if you had RCA plugs on your car stereo. But since you said it was on the front I know it should be a mini stereo plug.

Michigan, thanks
I bought the cable at Radio Shack and it made a heck of a big difference. There is some slight hissing in the background, but it is so much better. Thanks so much.

If you use the direct fm adapter and then want to listen to some regular FM or AM, just shut off the Stiletto first and you'll be OK. There is no need to unplug the power source. Just put it in sleep mode....

I ended up fixing my problem by plugging the unit into the aux part of my car stereo.
