Default Internet Radio Question

New to the forum and I love it, lots of great info. I just picked up a Stilleto today and am loving it so far.

I used the search but I am a dummy when it comes to the wireless network stuff. My stilleto finds my NetGear Router but it is locked. I enter the password which I use when in my NetGear settings page but it won't connect.

Is there a read up for dummies on what I need to do to get it up and running? Or can anybody help a newbie out?

Thanks!

The stiletto only connects to a wireless b network.
What type of security settings do you have on you wireless network, wpa, wep?
So once you find what type of security you set up on the wlan, you must enter passcode or passphrase on the stiletto to join your wlan to get internet access.

I am using a wireless g with the SSID being broadcasted. I typed in my password to the Stiletto and all works great.

Yes, but your router probably is in mixed mode, which means you can connect with either a "b" or "g" device.

If you have your router locked in g only, the Stiletto will not connect. It also must be broadcasting the SSID and the only security you can use is wep, wpa1/2.

I must admit I am not the most technical person, but I know what I'm doing most of the time .

My router is the Linksys WRT54G.

I will look into the settings and see what I exactly have done.

This is one of the other things that bums me out, and why I am content on keeping my 10. Really the only "in home" use is for wifey on the treadmill and she just has me record some of ch36 or something upbeat. Or for me to listen to the Packer games which I couldn't do online anyways. So this is kind of the icing on the cake for my decision to stick with the 10. That and the internet radio sounds like even more garbage than some of the super compressed channels.

Well it doesn't sound bad to me, I listen to it all day long at work at serveral offices. While home I have no need to listen via Wifi as I have docks and antenna setup to provide live reception. I do it occasionally if I want to be in the middle of my home where there is no ability to get live reception this baby works PERFECTLY!

You sound like you are still trying to convince yourself that the S10 was the way to go. I think everyone has to decide which has more value to them. I can't see any value in the S10 myself, but to each his own.

Do you pay the $3 extra for the 128 stream vs the 36?

No because the Stiletto at this point doesn't support it. Hopefully early next year that will change. I am fine with the 32kb streaming as I am usually at work and just have music playing in the background. It just isn't required to be pristine. But then if I was after pristine sounding music, I wouldn't be looking to Sat Radio for that anyway.

Thanks everyone, I was entering the password and not the encrypted passphrase.
