Just hooked up my new Boombox I got today at CC in Fort Wayne, IN. Sounds Fantastic no weird noises. Also when I turn the Volumn up all the way it was super loud, plenty of volumn for any party, the sound quality is also great. I'm 50 yrs. old so my favorite two music channels are "Classic Vinyl" and "The Vault" I wish it sounded this good way back the first time around when my hearing was better.

I thought the size was fine. It is sort of thick but that doesn't bother me because it will either go on my desk in my home office and then outside for parties/entertainment when I'm outside. I really want to buy one. I'd rather have it a little on the big side but still pump out great sound rather than have them make it very thin and it sound weak.

Hey Jak glad you are happy with yours. I used mine this afternoon at one of my clinics for a Christmas gathering we had for referral sources. It was plenty loud and everyone was impressed that Sat Radio was now available in such a nice package. I think this was the first time that many of them had actually seen and heard sat radio for themselves.

Yes that is my feelings exactly! It maybe a bit larger than the Soloist and Executive, but the reward is great with excellent Sound!

Default Got Mine Today

My boombox came today (from Crutchfield) and I gotta say I'm really impressed; sound quality is excellent, as is the build quality.

I'm actually a little surprised that it sounds better than playing through the homedock into my PC's line in audio (SB Audigy). The sound via the homedock has an "echoy" effect, which I chalked up to compression. I didn't notice it in the car but figured that was due to not being able to hear as clearly in the noisy Jeep as opposed to my "quiet" den. But when I popped the Stiletto in the boombox it sounds perfect, even cranked, so now I'm wondering if there's something strange about my homedock setup (either the soundcard or something about how the dock is outputting the sound).

Wondering if anyone else has noticed that.

Thanks,

JT

Default Was the cable

OK, started thinking about the echo thing and realized it didn't happen with headphones either, so started playing around with my connections and found the cable wasn't fully pushed in to the line out jack (had to actually push pretty hard to get it to 'click' in). Now the sound from the homedock sounds perfect. Duh!

Default Christmas Gift

I was at CC with my wife shopping for a digital camera for my Daughter and they had 2 boomboxes in stock. The boss said I could get one, but I couldn't open it until Christmas (you know with the kids and all). So I said ok and purchased it. I can't wait til she goes to bed cause I'm going to fire it up.

Well now you know we'll expect a full report. I used mine again tonight at the bonfire and man it was just great. I love this freaking boombox.

Can i ask if the antenna is just like the home dock atenna and needs to sit next to the unit or is it built it? I have a home dock, it's the only way to get "live content" where I live. Also, it doesn't have a clock or alarm function does it like the soloist? Thanks!

There is a mount for the antenna, which allows you to just flip it up and gain reception. There is also a cord winder that you just wind the cord around. It is the same home antenna as other docks have. I have been very pleased with the reception while outdoors.

No clock whatsoever on the boombox. Hopefully a ZAP update will be adding the clock to the Stiletto, but I don't think they will be adding the alarm or sleep function.

I also picked up a Boombox this past Saturday from the local CC. I used it outdoors under my Tiki bar, and inside my home. I didn't hear any strange sounds at low volumes, and it was able to get plenty loud. I thought the sound was pretty good while listening to a variety of channels and music.

I see it getting plenty of use around the house, while I leave my Soloist setup in my home office.

Thanks picked one up at my local CC. Works great, but while listening on headphones turned itself off or went to sleep like every 20 mins and my scheduled recording this morning for stern didn't happen, bummer.

That's pretty sad. Glad you got the boombox though.

Thanks picked one up at my local CC. Works great, but while listening on headphones turned itself off or went to sleep like every 20 mins and my scheduled recording this morning for stern didn't happen, bummer. DAB i just noticed you wrote in your review [/QUOTE]Now the next question, can you record using the boombox? If you hit the power button on the boombox or remote Stiletto then it goes to sleep, but the problem is that the dock then is no longer power so it will not record. However, if you leave the boombox power and just use the button on the side of the Stiletto to put it in sleep mode, it will come on and and perform the scheduled recording. You will not see any visible indication that it is recording, but it does record.

Now i just wonder why it turns to sleep ever 20 mins or so while listeing on headphones? Thanks.

Actually since my review and later in the thread I clarify that for recording in the boombox. If you power down the boombox, it will indeed come on and allow the Stiletto to record. But when the Stiletto is finished recording for whatever reason it suddenly comes on and will not go off until you manually shut it down. Why it doesn't record and then just remain off, I don't understand. However, while it is recording there is no visible indication that it is recording, but I have never missed a recording.

I don't know anything about the headphone jack, I have never used the headphone jack on the Boombox. I can try it and let you know my results. But let me make sure I understand. You have the Stiletto docked and you are listening to "LIVE" satellite radio. You then plug the headphones into the headphone jack on the Boombox. After about 20 minutes the Boombox shuts down and then the Stiletto goes to sleep or is the boombox still on and just the Stiletto goes to sleep? I need to know if the blue light on the boombox indicates that it is still powered on or is it red when you notice this?

The bottom line is that the boombox usually has to be powered down before the Stiletto will go into sleep mode. If you try to put the Stiletto in sleep mode while the Boombox is still powered it will appear to go to sleep, but come right back on. So, I am betting this has to do with the boombox and not the Stiletto. Let me know if the Boombox is on or off when you see it go to sleep. Power light will be red or blue.

Thanks Dab. So far a bit confusing. Bubba seemed to record this afternoon though. Stern this morning for sure didnt record, and it was turned off and didn't turn itself on w/ the power supply plugged in. I guess i'll see how the next few days go. Regarding headphones, its a bit odd, you have to hit volume up to hear it eventhough the volume is up, then it seems to be playing, yes live satellite feed, then just turns off after a while, not sure if blue or red light comes on, will check.
