Well I think you maybe right... my son told me last night he could hear a very, very low pitched squealing, but it was only when on "LIVE" sat. He just happen to notice it while switching from Sat Mode. If you switched mode to Internet Radio, Library, Radio Raplays... it totally goes away. He messed with it about 30 minutes. The strange thing is that it is so low that I have to really listen hard and there has to be nothing on for me to hear it. This isn't a good thing, but as my son said.. who listens to their music low enough that this is even an issue. I certainly don't and neither does he. I don't see it as been that big of a deal. I guess each person has to decide for themselves. I LOVE THIS BOOMBOX! The SQ is excellent and the portability to take it places with great sound makes it awesome and negates the almost inaudible squealing.

That is puzzling.... I'll try to do some multiple recordings with mine this weekend and see what happens. I have generally only done one a day on mine. Though it was usually for like 3 or 4 hours at a time.

So, you have to set to do Stern in the AM and Bubba in the PM. You don't get the one in the AM, but do the one in the PM. Makes no sense does it?

Are you hearing the squealing on yours at all?

yes it's so odd. Same exact recording schedule that has stayed unchanged from when i used the home dock successfully. The only thing is i listen before going to bed, thought maybe had to do with having the headphones plugged in (which makes the unit turn off every 10 or so minutes!) so i took out headphones last night, still no stern recording! Very odd, maybe defective. Yes, I do hear some squeling.

UPDATE i returned it and am just going w/ my home dock. I really can't deal with paying $100 + for something that seems defective. I never have these problems with other products, lost patience, went through enough of this w/ my S50! Wish everyone the best w/ the boombox and great forum!

I can't say that I blame you. I know there were folks that also returned the Soloist due to the fact that they were unable to use it to record as well. So, while I think the Soloist and Boombox are great for what they were designed to do. They are just not really that great for someone that wants to use them as docks for recording.

I have a separate home kit that I mainly use for doing multiple recordings. My boombox is really meant to allow me to use the Stiletto on the go in outdoor or indoor settings. The Soloist for the sleep mode and alarm functions. If you have no real need of these things and are just using it in place of a home dock, then clearly the home dock is the way to go and it is cheaper.

Grabbed one of these this weekend... have it in our bedroom now and will use it on the deck and other outdoor activities when the weather is good.....
Very happy with it! Sound is pretty darn great if you ask me, at low and high volumes. I wish it had a sleep timer/alarm but am very happy with the product!

Yes, I was wondering how it compared to the sound quality of the Sportster boombox. Sounds like the Stiletto boombox has a lot better sound quality. I may have missed this, but does the Stiletto boombox have any type of sleep timer? I would like to set a sleep timer, so it shuts off after I fall asleep at night. Or would I have to go with the Soloist for that? I still want the boombox for tailgating.

Boombox has no sleep timer or alarm setup. You'd have to get the Soloist for that. In my opinion they really should have put the sleep timer and alarm on the Stiletto itself, then it wouldn't matter if you were using a home kit, boombox or Soloist type device it would all be controlled via the tuner as it should be. This was a huge oversight in my mind!

Is a sleep timer or alarm something they could address through a firmware update?

I see no reason why not. The clock is there already there for scheduling advance recordings. It would just be a matter of adding the menu and building the interface around it. Every tuner I ever had from SIRIUS up to the S50 had both sleep mode and alarm clock. We've finally got a portable, where you'd have the potential to use your tuners alarm feature in stand alone mode while traveling and they just totally omitted it. I have always used both of these features on a daily basis, but with the Stiletto I had to spend $149.00 (Soloist) for this pleasure. I still don't have these features when I am on the road, because I am not lugging my Soloist.

It just makes NO SENSE!!! You spend double and triple the money for these tuners and they have less features.
