So... Boombox vs. Soloist. Which is the better buy? I don't have an iPod, so I don't need to be able to dock one of those.

That totally depends on your needs! They are for two very different purposes and you must pick the one that meets the needs you are trying to address. I have both!

I would just like to listen upstairs. I have my home dock on the main level of our house, but would like to also be able to listen upstairs. I used to have the Sportster boombox upstairs. I also like the option of taking it with me tailgating, which is why I would probably lean towards the boombox. But i like the thought of the space saving Soloist too.

Considering what you want to do then you can't go wrong getting the Boombox. The Soloist isn't battery powered, plus it doesn't have nearly as much bass, nor does it get as loud for tailgating.

The Soloist is great for bedstand use though, it has the sleep mode and alarm clock. Takes up very little room and the sound inside isn't bad at all.

I am a little crazier than most, so I bought both. But I use the alarm clock and sleep mode daily. Plus I do a lot of outdoor activities where I need some tunes so the boombox fits the bill.

If I had to pick just one though considering what you are wanting to do, I'd go Boombox.

You know In a few rooms I have some powered PC speakers around just for this purpose. ( my work room, the Garage, for example ) With wifi all around the house, I just take my stiletto and plug it into the speakers and I have my radio with me at least for a few hours on battery. You don't need a home dock in every room if you have wifi in your house, any old pair of computer speakers works well. Even if you don't have a pair, people tend to sell them for less than $10.00 all over the place. I know radio shack usually has some on sale for less than 10 bucks.

Default Boomer

I have both the Soloist and the Boombox. I also considered the Executive System. I will say the boombox is very nice and had good sound. The soloist is a good set too, but the boomer is very flexible. Go with the boombox.

No special Soloist... The Soloist works with multiple devices, including the S100 and S10.

From Crutchfield: » includes cradle adapter sleeves for Sportster 4, Starmate 4, Stratus, Stiletto 10, Stiletto 100, and iPod

Stiletto does not work with the Univiseral Boombox, but there is a Stiletto Boombox available.

Default Finally Got My Boombox

After 4 months, ( I ordered it September 6th ) I finally got my boombox from TSS.

I did get a great price. ( They originally had them listed at $99.00 ) but later they found out they were supposed to be 149.00 They honored the original price.

That was the reason I waited so long. I had lots of opportunities to buy it at CC. No one would match TSS's price. So I waited. THANKS TSS for honoring your original price.

I've only used it via WiFi but it sounds great. My only concern is the use of my Home Dock Remote.

As most of you know, it does not come with a remote. It seems that not all the buttons on the home dock remote work.

I know the power button works. The volume button sort of works. When I press the volume up or down the volume does goe up and down but there is no indicator that shows up on the display.

When you power it off, it seems to take a long time to go to sleep.

One other sort of useless thing is the lock that is on the Front. It does not seem to lock the unit in the dock.

Well maybe tomorrow I'll go out and get some batteries and try it via the 8 size D batteries it needs. I'm looking forward to the spring and summer with it. Somthing to take to a BBQ.

I wish it was a little smaller and had a single handle to carry it. It is pretty heavy.

Well I'll play a little more.

Mike

The boombox has been the best thing I have bought in a long time. I have it downstairs in my basement office and love the fact that I can take full advantage of the Stiletto's wifi. Also, I sometimes can get Sat. Signal despite being next to the basement window so I can only assume that the new Home antenna's are stronger than before. Trust me, there is no repeater for me to take advantage of where I live.

I could not be happier with the boombox. and, the car dock remote works great with the boombox. I would rate this at a 9 out of ten.

I had to drive across Indiana yesterday on a spare car that did not have aux in plug in front. I took my Stiletto boombox and put the antenna on the front dash. I was VERY impressed with the quality of the sound. It sounded as good as my in car radio to the poin that I kept trying to turn the car radio off when I would get a phone call. The problem is the unit is so big and I used my car dock remote from my other car. The way I had the boombox in the car, it was hard to see the Stiletto to see if the remote was working. The sound was excellent.

Just got back from a night out. I happend to put my boombox in the car and we used it to listen to Cousin Brucie. The Boombox really makes it easy to use your Stiletto and share the music with everyone.
