It amazes me that Cousin Brucie is still around, he has got to be in his 70's.

I have a boom box on the way... but now I'm realizing (after reading this thread), that I would really love a sleep function and alarm for the mornings. I would use that every day. But I'm not gonna buy another unit!

Can we petition to have them add sleep and alarm to the the Stilleto units themselves? Have sirius users ever been able to petition for a function they really wanted on their radios?

Can't wait to get the boom box. I hope it doesn't squeal, if so I'm going to exchange it for one that doesnt!

I have and will continue to push these two features in upcoming updates. I too would love to see the sleep mode and alarm function.

The other two things is auto-dim and auto shut-off. Those are basically the top 4 things on my list to push them for.

By the way I had squeal in my boombox, but found it using a good power strip that blocks RF seem to clean this up. I've not had any problems with it.

Doesn't the SL10 auto dim already?

Auto shut off would be killer, but I could deal with just a sleep timer that I could set.

My boom box is on the way, I will let you guys know if I have the squeal when I recieve it.

One thing I was thinking about: since there's this bug with the unit playing after a record session... couldn't i just set a recording for 5 minutes to end when I want to get up... then once the recording wraps up the radio will turn on and I will just wake up to having the radio playing and it will be just like if there was an alarm built in.

Would that work? Does that make sense in terms of the bug you guys experienced? That would be an amazing work around to the lack of alarm issue!

I should have been more specific I was talking about having the auto dim and auto shut-down user configurable or at least offer the ability to turn it on and off totally. One example is the auto-dim while in the car dock in broad daylight makes no sense, because the display is barely viewable. Why they didn't think of this is just beyond my understanding.

I see no reason why setting it to stop recording 5 minutes before you want to get up wouldn't work. I have not tried this again since the update, but it that issue is still there, then I think it would work without a problem.

I got the boom box today. There is no squeeling and I think I love it. Also, I hadn't bought a home kit (instead I put the $70 towards this boom box!), so the addition of an external antrenna has vastly improved my reception and listening experience.

I will test my recording / alarm workaround theory later tonight and let you know if it worked.

Now the next thing I'm thinking is that this unit needs a remote! Since I didn't get the home kit, I don't have a remote. Can I just buy any of the remotes off TSS? Are they all compatible? The cheapest one is like 12 bucks, which would be amazing.

I would see if you can get one of the home/car dock remotes for the Stiletto. I haven't looked at their selections. But the ones for the Stiletto itself is best because if you get one of the other one some of the buttons won't work or won't correspond.

I look forward to your recording report. Have you done any preliminary testing to see if the unit actually does come on after it finishes recording. I was hoping maybe the recent update fixed this, but I've been unable to test it.

for my first test I just set the stiletto to record for 5 minutes. Then I docked it in the boom box and powered it down. After it recorded, IT TURNED ON! So I guess it works?

However, then I turned it off again because i was listening to something on the computer. I had another recording set up for 10pm (the original test was around 9:15 and I had shut down the system by 9:30)... this time the unti turned itself on at 10 and just sat quietly in the library mode. Very wierd behavior. It didn't got to the station it was going to record or anything, just sat silent in the library. When I hit home it went to the station I was recording. It was recording the whole time, what I had set up to record came out perfect. But I don't know why it turned itse;f on for the recording. Anyway, sorry if that was confusing, but I can't make sense of what happened.

The true test will be tomorrow morning when I will set a recoirding to end when I want to wake up and hopefully I will awake to the sweet tunes of sirius radio!

wish me luck.

As for the remote. I guess I will get a stiletto remote off ebay. Thanks for your advice!

my alarm workaround was flawless this morning! I woke up to the Chris Moyles show on BBC Radio One. Later I deleted the 5 minute recording I had used to establish the timing of my alarm...

If they fix this bug in the next update I'm gonna be so pissed!

ROTFLOL, I wouldn't worry about them fixing this bug. I think this is more to do with the Boombox than the Stiletto itself. I doubt we'll see Zing/Sirius do any updates on the Boombox.

You've now given me a new way to use my Boombox should I find myself away and needing it to wake up in the morning.

Thanks for the report.

Default executive boombox question

Has anybody checked out the "executive" model?

Mike,

Did you ever get the batteries (I know you must have), how long will it run on the batteries?

Medium Volume, I got a little over 5 hours with mine. Stiletto display turned all the way down to 5%.
