Default Stiletto questions

So, let me get this straight:

Because I don't need a car kit, can it literally sit on the front seat or dashboard without a cradle, antenna, etc.?

Do I get a charger, or do I charge the batteries through the radio? If I were to charge them through the radio, could I listen to something.... how would the battery charging be compromised?

I have a wireless B router. It sounds like i'd be fine with internet radio.. heck, I can get a repeater signal, but it goes out from time to time...If I were to get a wireless G router, would it still work?

Since I have an FM radio in the house, could it sit on the table and just convert to an FM signal? I've seen the boombox, but that seems like an unnecessary buy if you have a FM radio and don't demand the sound quality.

If you don't get a car kit, you only have the headphone antenna to get good reception, unless you are in a repeater area. You will also need some way to connect from the headphone out to your stereo. You get one wall charger that plugs right into the stiletto, if you want to charge a battery, it has to be on the stiletto. If the player is on while charging, it will take longer to charge. A wireless G router can be set to broadcast on B and G simultaniously, as long as you leave B on, it will wok.
I am not sure what you are talking abouot with the FM radio. The stiletto has no built in FM transmitter, that is part of the docks. If you want the most out of this thing, buy a dock, I got one for home and one for car (plus a hardwired antenna modulator), and don''t regret the purchase one bit.
Sounds like you may have more research on your hands to fully grasp what you get with the stiletto.

Internet:
I'd be fine for the home internet, but like I said, I live near a repeater, so that's rarely an issue. Besides, it seems like the internet radio is a bit behind the live audio (and we know about sound quality.)

Headphones:
It seems like the best option by far is to use the headphone antenna to guarantee that I can get a signal from the satellite if something happens to the repeater......Same thing with the car... Get the antenna (car kit) to guarantee that I can pick up a satellite signal when there's no repeater.

FM transmitter:
I can't put the stilleto on a table and have a nearby FM radio pick up a signal, because there's no built-in transmitter. If I want to use it at home, without headphones and constant power source, it sounds like i'd have to buy a boombox.

Home connectivity:
It obviously has a headphone plug. I can plug my iPod into the wall, and connect a wire to the headphone plug, and the other end into a stereo's line-in unit. Something like this:

Would the same thing be possible with the Stiletto? I really don't see why not.

Battery Charger:
Apparently there is one, or there will be one?

Stiletto 10?
There's also the Stiletto 10. Does anyone know how that will differ, or does, from the 100?

You could buy an outboard FM transmitter. I got one from Belkin, originally for an iPod, but it just plugs into the headphone jack so it works with any audio source.

If you already have a headphone-to-RCA adapter cable like the picture, you don't need a home kit to connect to a stereo system. I did fine without a home kit for a month (since the SL100 came out before home kits were available). I just plug it in to the AC, set it on a shelf near the window, and it records off the repeater signal.

The basic SL100 comes with an AC adapter.

I don't think it works with 802.11g. But most routers will fall back to b, I think, if necessary.

As I understand it, the SL10 has one tenth the storage, no MP3 playback, and no saving of individual songs, but I don't have one and am only repeating what I've read elsewhere on this forum. Search for SL10.

FShop had a $50 rebate on for purchases over 500 this week. So the Stiletto and the Belkin came to $501 and with the rebate I got the Belkin for free. It works nice although I haven't had a chance to test the range on it yet.

I had problems collecting replays even with the headphones with a repeater nearby. The docks corrected that issue.

DAB gave the boombox a good review. see Sticky

You can use the earbud mini plug in addition to the power cord simultaniously but you cannot use the headphone/antenna with the power cord. I have a couple of setups I use the direct method you are showing.

The home dock charges both batteries.

Do a forum search on the Stiletto 10. From what I have read I am glad I went with the 100.

I think the docks are essential to realize the full impact of the Stiletto. The more places I can easily "Love" songs or capture replays the better.

Yeah, I already have a headphone-to-RCA adapter, so it sounds like I really wouldn't need a home kit. And if I did, I could always buy one later.

The only feature that seems to be missing is the one that XM has which is the "download an entire song, even if it's halfway through" feature.

So it sounds like SL10 has a lot less storage, can't play mp3s and no song-saving. It's practically just a portable SIRIUS radio and that's it.

It seems like if you have an iPod, the 10 might be the better buy, since an iPod can hold more songs. At least, that's how I look at it.
