Post Help ! Stiletto charging question.

Just got my stiletto Friday. When it is charging on either battery there is no indication whatsoever on the display that it is charging. Several hours later the batteries are still only half charged. Is there supposed to be a charging indication on the display?

You should have the battery icon in the bottom left corner. Four bars indicates full charge and there will be a green "plus" sign next to the battery when it is attached to AC power and I would assume charging the battery. It does not go out when the Stiletto is fully charged however. The Home Dock has blue lights that flash while charging and hold steady when fully charged.

It's best to charge it the first time with the unit all the way off. I don't recall having any indicator when I used the AC power adapter during my initial charge. There is a indicator with my 100 on the home dock though.

No matter which dock or if you plug it in directly to AC, you'll see a green + sign right beside the battery indicator when it is charging. If that is not there it isn't charging. When the tuner is turned off there is no indicator whatsoever except if you have a home kit, which has a light. It flashes while charging and stay on steady when fully charged. Car docks, Soloist and Boombox have no indicators. But again if you have the tuner on, you should see the green + indicator when it is on and charging.

Post Stiletto Not Charging

I certainly appreciate your info guys. When I had the unit in the home dock the blue light was flashing but I didn't leave it in long because as I mentioned above the dock is defective. When plugged directly into AC there is no green + indicator. I guess the Stiletto is defective as well.
That means I have to deal with Sirius.com support. Yikes !

Make sure you leave it plugged into AC for awhile. If the battery is real low it may take it a bit to start charging. But I just plugged mine into AC directly to make sure and I can indeed see the green +.

Keep us posted! I wouldn't want to have to deal with SIRIUS warranty exchange, so I hope you don't have too.

Post Charging Problem

Thanks DAB! I just talked to Sirius tech support who had no clue how to solve this. I asked him where to obtain the latest firmware, and he said "What's firmware"? Scary.
By the way. Do you know what website might have the latest Stiletto software update?

Just connect it to your PC after starting the MSS software. Click on the Stiletto and check for updates.

Look in the Settings: Device: Device Info

What is your Zap and OS?

If you ZAP is: 1.0.2.18248r and your OS: 1.0.1.16645

Then you have the latest.

There is no place to download it. You must hook up your USB cable and connect using the MSS software or you can use Wifi and if there is an update available it will automatically download it in the background and install it, but it takes time.

I checked my unit a little while ago. I came to the same conclusion. One thing I did notice was no indicator on the home screen. You have to open one of the features to see the indicator. I found the manual to be accurate on the time they take to charge from a empty bat.

Thank you that is a good point and I didn't think of that, but you are correct. You must go into one of the modes in order to see the battery and the charge indicator. Good Catch Peacpeddler.

You should not be able to overcharge the stiletto batteries. There is circuitry built in to prevent this.

The batteries are LI Poly batteries. The reason there is a circuit controlling the charging is that these batteries can actually explode and catch fire if they are over charged.

You might of heard about some of the laptop batteries catching on Fire.
