Post Defective Home Dock.

Bought a stiletto home dock kit at Best Buy. Unable to get a signal at all. I hooked up the antenna from my Direct Soloist boombox (which I know is good) and it won't get past "acquiring signal". Obviously the dock itself is bad. What rotten luck.
I do love the Stiletto however. Still discovering all it's potential. I may just return the home kit and buy the SLBB1 boombox.

Have you tried it outside? Or referred to the map of where to point home antenna? Do you have it plugged in? I get a strong sinal now with the home kit and antenna in the house. Flat pointing straight up.

Smile Home Dock Faulty

My home dock was faulty as well. Could not aquire a signal. After waiting two weeks or so to get it, I wanted to use it. Against my better judgement I took the dock apart. The micro coax was messed up during the soldering to the antenna connector on the dock. I was able to pull the coax from the board, strip and resolder to the board. It was a very difficult process requiring a microscope to see what I was doing. Nothing short of a miracle it worked, and has been working for over a month now.

Crutchfield even gave me $25 in a gift card for my troubles !
That was extremely good of them !

Good Luck !

When look at the dogstar map, how do you know to position your antenna? I live in Memphis (sadly too far away from the terrestrial repeater)...any suggestions for a n00b?

Nevermind, I figured it out (yay me!)

My home dock is defective as well. I live in a repeater area (in midtown manhattan) with no view to the sky.

I get 3 bars without any antenna (internal ant only) in my apartment and when I attach the home dock in the same location I get none.

Antenna positioning cannot be the issue

When is the manufacturer going to acknowledge this!

It's probably the antenna, not the dock. Try the car antenna, I bet it works great. That's what I did.

Tried 3 different antennas I have from different units. None work.

Post Home Dock Problem solved by exchanging unit

The antenna tested fine. I exchanged it at Best Buy and the new one is perfect so it was a defective dock. Someone at the factory obviously is under the influence.
You guys may know this already but if the Stiletto is shutdown completely it will not charge. It will charge in the sleep mode.
I am having lots of fun with mine. Bought the Executive System at Crutchfield (127.00) plus bought a Stiletto 10 for 209.00 from NYC Electronics. And YES I am out of control.
