Default a few bugs with the home dock

I've had the home dock for a week or so and have run some tests with it because things just weren't as they seemed. I scheduled a recording at 2am (channel 20) for 60 minutes and one at 3am (channel 21) for 60 minutes. What happens is the Stiletto never changes the channel at 3am. It still records, but it records the same channel (20) from the 2am schedule.

I have also found that if I turn the unit off with the power button on the remote, my scheduled recordings at 2am and 3am work, then I have another one at 6am that never records. I come down in the morning and I have to take the battery out of the Stiletto to get it to come back to life because it is basically locked up, black screen. Interestingly enough, if I just put the stiletto to sleep at night while in the home dock before I goto bed, the 2am, 3am, and 6am recordings all go off on time. (the 3am is still the wrong channel)

For a $350 unit plus another $70 for the home kit I am pretty disappointed with the Stiletto 100. I was in a docs office waiting room tonight sitting by a window and got 0 reception. I didn't really expect to get any sicne there's only 1 repeater in Baltimore right now but still. I was able to listen to some radio replays though for the few hours I had to sit which was nice. The main reason I don't return the stuff is because I actually like the programming a lot and don't want to give that up. Hopefully they get a few more repeaters in the Baltimore area sometime soon.

I have noticed irregularities myself. I have a home dock and broke up my Stern recordings to 3 two hour blocks. 6am, 8am and 10am. The first two recorded, but the third did not.

The reason I broke the recordings up were because I sometimes dock it after 6am and it will not record after the start time. Or so I thought. Sometimes it did, other times it didn't. Still, I have no clue why it did not record the last program for me.

I am hoping for a huge firmware update.

I love my Stiletto, but I too can confirm this problem. I tried to record Tony Hawk's Demolition Radio on Tuesday 7PM on Channel 28 (60 minutes) and Marky Ramone's Punk Rock Blitzkrieg on the same channel at 8PM as two seperate blocks. Unfortunately, the second show didn't record at all... it looked like it did, but it was simply the first show.

This problem will hopefully be addressed in a firmware update.

Are you all allowing enough memory space to complete all recordings?

I have experienced the back to back recording bug as well. There are two ways that I know of to get around it. 1) Instead of recording for example two three hour shows, record one six hour time period. 2) Leave about five minutes between recordings. For example, set one from 8:00 to 10:00 and then set the next one from 10:05 to 12:00. I know you will miss 5 minutes of one show, but it should record the rest.

I sure am. Stiletto 100 holds about 100 hrs. I only had 2 hours recorded before the problem started.

That sounds like the S50 method. I was hoping that this problem wouldn't be here on the Stiletto. As an experiment, I put the Stiletto in the dock and left it on. In the morning I will see if it duplicates the problem. If it does it again by failing to record the third consecutive program, I will switch to splitting my timed recording in half until they have a bug fix.

if I staggered the recordings, like 2-2:55am and then started one at 3am, it seems to work fine. I think this is just a bug though that sirius should address with a firmware update.

Does anyone else have problems when they use the power button from the remote control, that it doesn't wake back up at all? Mine just sits black until I take the battery out of it.

Well, today all 3 recordings worked fine. I will try again tomorrow. Seems that the problem may be sporadic. I just wish I knew what caused it.

Default Home Dock Issues

I have a new issue with my home dock. If something is scheduled to record and I am in the middle of listening to something in the library, when the scheduled recording starts, I get an 'Error' message on the display and the unit reboots. Once it reboots it begins recording again and all is fine. This has happened about three times since I downloaded the latest firmware upgrade. anyone else have this experience or can you replicate?

I have been recording Stern's show pretty much every morning since I got the Stiletto right when it came out....

-this morning was the first morning that it did not record. I knew right when i turned the unit on and it gave the startup screen with the dog that the show wouldn't be there. I am not sure what did it, but I do have the unit in the home dock without the battery (because I am letting it fully drain before recharging it). I have done this most days so I know that isn't the problem.

-another thing i have noticed is that even though I set the recording for 4 hours...it often comes in at random times...sometimes a few seconds or minutes under 4 hours...other times a few seconds over. there is really no rhyme or reason for it.

Why are you guys leaving 5 minute gaps between recordings - can't you just leave a one minute gap like so many of us have done for the past year with our S50's?

Regardless, it looks like there are back-to-back recording design flaws that may be inherant to all current Sirius receivers. Are you listening, Sirius?

Because it schedules time in 5 minute intervals, not 1 minute.
