Ahhhh you are sticking HEADPHONES into the AUX OUT. That's the problem. It's not designed for headphones as it's SUPPOSED to be a constant feed to an external stereo.

Get a set of headphones with a volume control.

I'm pushing 60 years and I don't hear that good anyway so the volume level from the aux out does not bother me at all. I love headphones and have several that I use with all my tvs, mini-disk player, home theater equipment, PC, PVR and now the Stiletto (I trashed the earplugs that came with the Stiletto - garbage!). I have three pairs of Sennheiser cordless phones, one Sennheiser wired can, two older (but still good) W500 wireless headsets, one not too bad Jensen wireless unit with volume control, a Sony earplug and two Koss earplug sets. My all-time favorites, however, are Shure E3s.

Here is what I did with the Stiletto which I keep on my home dock most of the time. I used a two headphone adapter coming out of the aux output. BTW, it takes a standard mini headphone plug. From one output of the adapter I hooked up a 'Y' plug for my wireless Sennheiser R/L inputs. That way, I can move freely around my property (even outside) and listen to the Stiletto with great sound. The other adapter output goes directly to my earbuds. I use an extension for the earbuds to reach my bed as the Stiletto is positioned on a little table about 12' from the bed. When I'm laying in bed the earplugs are very comfortable and I often fall asleep with them on which is something I could not do if I were wearing those larger, over the ear wireless cans. This set-up works perfect for me.

This is what I use off the home and car dock for headphones - works great.
