Default Satellite vs. Terrestrial Signals

I just received my Sirius Stiletto 100 and so far I am impressed. I ordered it from the Sirius Store using the AAA discount on 12/06 and it was delivered on 12/08!. I get 2-3 bars using the built in antenna inside my house so I must live pretty close to a repeater. I live in northeast Queens, NY.

I have a question regarding the satellite and terrestrial signals. When using the home dock I get 60-90% signal strength on the terrestrial signal, but the satellite signal barely registers 5-10%. I've tried three different antennas with the same results. I've aimed the antenna in different directions, but the signal strength doesn't change. Is this common? Is the home dock defective? Any ideas?

TIA...JL

No this normal. If you have a strong terrestrial signal it seems to lock in on that and doesn't seem to worry about pulling a better Sat Signal. However, if you are in an area where you are on the frinch of a repeater, you'll find the sat signal goes up in order to compensate. I've seen this many times in my travels to areas that have repeaters.

Default Hello!

What does the home dock add to the experience?

Since I hear the antennae headphones are VERY uncomfortable, how is the Stiletto reception using regular headdphones? I'm in NY- Brooklyn, Manhattan and Staten Island mostly.

For car use, will a seperately purchased Fm modulator work well? I heard the car dock has a very weak, crappy fm mod.
Guess a casette adaptor would work well.

Hey shane1v!

The home dock is nothing more than a regular dock... if you can't get a satellite/terrestrial signal indoors then it'll allow you to hook up your satellite antenna.

Terrestrial repeater maps, in case you need 'em: http://www.dogstarradio.com/sirius_map.php (they greatly improve signal)
