Get a linksys wireless G Model WRT54G

It looks like this:

Don't let them try to sell you some fancy PRE-N or Speed booster model. This model has been around for a while and works well and everyone knows how to help you with it should you need help.

Keep it simple

Start off connecting it to your cable modem and plug your pc into it. Get that working.

Then turn on the wireless and don't use security yet. Get the stiletto connected and working.

After that you can add a WEP password once you are sure it connects and works.

Change only one thing at a time. Start simple and go from there.

Good Luck!

I also have the WRT54G, and will second rubin's recommendation, it is top-notch. I spent $50 on extended range antennae and can listen to my Stiletto in Internet mode anywhere on my 1/3 acre lot.

Definetely go with the Linksys. I'm a Network Specialist and use that brand at home exclusively - they're actuallty consumer level Cisco gear...

I agree with you Dad... We've had D-Link and some other off the wall brand that some network guy suckered us with. We always had internet connectivity problems from time to time. About two weeks ago, I got mad and we bought a Linksys 16 port vpn router. None of us can believe how much faster our network is and the internet never goes down now. I also hooked up a Linksys Wirless access point to one of the ports and that provides great service for those of us that have wireless notebooks, along with my Stiletto Linksys is indeed the best. You will generally pay more for it, but in the long run it is worth it.
