Default Headset antenna does not improve my signal...

I use my Stilletto in the car without the car dock (changing cars shortly). I find that my reception with the headset antenna plugged in is not as good as using the internal tuner. What gives? At home I tried the same thing without any benefit to the headphone antenna. Is mine defective or is the benefit of these headset antenna extremely limited?

Also, with my Home dock I find that my signal is only at 1 bar with an occasional flash of 2 bars. At least it works about 90-95% of the time compared to the headet which offered no benefit at all. Is this the same experience others have?

I am in Miami Beach (SOuth Beach) and do not have any obstructions with a clear Esat/North exposure.

For starters you might want to see if there is a repeater covering your area over at Dogstar

According to the last time I checked the Dogstarradio map there's a repeater up near Lincoln Rd. It should provide great coverage for the entire area of South Beach. Last time I was down there (early Oct - we have a timeshare at a SoBe hotel) I didn't have my Stiletto with me on the beach or I would have been able to report how reception is.

I live 5 blocks from Lincoln road.

Any comments on the antenna in the headset being better than no antenna at all?

Also, can the antenna in the car dock plug right into the stiletto without going into the car dock? I do not want to install thentire car dock just now but would like to use the flat antenna that comes with it...

The dock antennae's require external power. I get better reception with the headset antennae than none at all but I use mostly replays and stored tunes when I am away from a dock. The docks have changed the way I use the Stiletto.
