Post When will we see software that works on a Mac for the Stiletto?

I am a mac user and plan to buy a Stiletto 100 soon. I do find it pretty frustrating that Sirius has not released any software which allows the Stiletto to sync with a mac. I realize that iTunes format files are not compatible, but MP3 files could be stored on a mac and transferred to the Stiletto if it was a compatible device. Cmon, there are a lot of mac users out there!

Ive been asking since the S50 came out. The good people here sometimes come out with workarounds for mac user, but from sirius? GOOD LUCK! The ipod is a mac product, but guess what? It supports windows too! What a concept.

At the risk of starting a age old argument:
I think Mac has less than 3% market share. They are kind of forced to cater IPOD to the PC market.

I read an article which states that apple could sell as many as 9 million macs in 2007, brining their marketshare to 4 percent. Sirius should consider the incermental growth possibilities in supporting MAC users. This could set them apart from XM who doesnt suppport MAC. 4 percent of the overall computer market in the US is still a larger number then the current subscruber base of Sirius.

You wouldn't think it would be that difficult to include Mac. As stated above I am sure there will be workarounds. Perhaps that is what vendors count on.

I even kept my old HP PC when I replaced it with an iMac back in May because I knew I'd need it for using MSS to update my S50. I have since sold the S50 and now have a Stiletto but still need the PC and MSS. I've also considered getting Parallels and a copy of XP instead and selling the PC. I'm tempted now to wait till Vista comes out before doing that.

Post There is certainly enough demand to warrant mac support

While mac market share may only currently be at 4%, I have read that the market share is growing at a fairly fast pace. I guess my best option would be to buy a new intel mac along and run both OSX and Windows. Once I load a few hundred of my favorite songs onto the Stiletto, I don't think I will need to sync with the computer much anyways. Now if Sirius would just get baseball....

Honestly I see no reason why SIRIUS doesn't support Mac. But then my experience with Mac isn't a very good one. I got a Mac with plans of possibly migrating my offices to Mac. The biggest issue we had was compatibility. Most of the intranet based software that our agencies use to interface with state and federal data systems simply do not work with Mac. Needless to say it was returned and we upgraded to newer PC's.

Having that small percentage of the market is exactly what hurts Mac, because companies like Sirius do not feel they should even bother with it. SIRIUS isn't the only one, just look around for software and you'll quickly see that many software companies don't support Mac either.

Just to clarify the only, ONLY reason iPod's support PC's is because they had too or either iPods would have about 3% of the MP3/Media Player market too. Apple simply had no choice but to provide Windows support, on the flip side of that other companies that support only Windows don't have to worry about that.

Again I think the Sirius software should support Mac, but they have very little incentive to do so at this point.

DAB,

I was surprised to hear you say, that you see no reason why Sirius doesn't support Mac. I think asnwered your own question, very little incentive to do so at this point.

Interestingly enough, Apple only has about 3% market share but their stock continues to outperform any of thier competitiors by a long shot.

Well I am not anti-Apple. I own an iPod which I use a good bit along with my Sat Radios. I honestly wanted to go with Macintoch for various reasons, but it just wasn't to be. I do like the OS and the way things work on a Mac.

Nope, I was just pointing that out to make sure no one was thinking that.
