yesterday I finally got to test my stiletto on the 2.5 hour bus ride between Hanover NH and Boston (I do this approx. 5 x per month). I'd say I had a sat signal about 50-60 percent of the time. It would cut in and out a fair bit but I was pleasantly surprised by its performance. I chose a window seat and propped the sat headphones against the pane. There were a couple of dead spots where I couldn't pick up anything, but once I hit Lowell, Mass. I started receiving a terrestrial signal—by Woburn it was full-on terrestrial and working great. In Boston, it worked in every building I entered. I ended up using it at my desk all day and then bagged about two hours of programming for the trip home in the evening. the key, as other posters have noted, is to go into this with the appropriate expectations and a crap load of recorded content.

You have no idea how happy I am to hear this. I'm moving to Boston (downtown) soon and have been sweating how the Stiletto would work. Have you taken it on a T line yet?

I live in NYC, where there suppose to be the best repeaters. Having my stilletto I relize if I sit by a train window or a bus window, the signal goes in and out at times. You wont be able to get a straight live signal all teh time. Thats what I relize with my experience.

Does the signal drop in and out when it switches repeaters?

Yesterday I was at an account just outside NYC, and (for the first time) I actually saw the terrestrial signal move. My S50 sat in the Home dock every day for a year, and when it was out I was listening to recorded content. With the Stiletto I actually take it with me.

I have done used it on the Boston/Providence trip. It does tend to drop in and out from time to time. Became too much of an annoyance for me to listen live, so I just go with the recorded material. I tend to record blocks of programming overnight if I am planning on being on a train/plane for any length of time.
