Hello fellow sirius suscribers. I just purchased a Stiletto S10 as an upgrade for my old sportster. Also purchased the car kit as well. Hooked them up into my car, set the FM to 88.1. The signal came up clear.

As soon as I started to drive....KABOOM...STATIC DISCHARGE!!!! I called sirius about this problem. They told me that they were required by the FCC to tone down the FM Transmitter in the radio because of overpowering the station or some Bulls**t.

So then I took the old FM relay out of my old sportster unit and plugged it into my Stiletto 10 and it improved a lot over what it was with the stiletto.

So now what do I do? When I spoke to Sirius tech support, they said that they would send me out an FM modulator but I would have to pay to have it installed. I do not want to spend $75.00 at a circuit city or best buy for them to rip my radio out and install it. I have a 2006 Volkswagen GTI.

Please help

It'll take you 30min to install that and they are sending it to you for free. What's the problem again?

TO go behind my dashboard? It is a nightmare to get in there. it took the dealership 4 hours to install my ipod kit in my GTI. I don't think I am as good as those guys.

If it's that hard to get to I'd just pay the $75. If it takes more than a few hours to do, it's worth the money.

Installing the FM adaptor is as easy as it can possibly be. All you have to do is unplug your cars antenna from your headunit and the FM adaptor into the headunit. It will not take more than 10 minutes.

And I am a complete idiot when it comes to wiring things.

WAIT! WAIT! WAIT!

While this may have been YOUR experience; every car installation is different and varies in the degree of difficulty.

I have an Acura TL. In order the remove the radio the ENTIRE center console including the gear shifter has to be removed. This took a professional over one and a half hours. It would have taken the "average Joe" most of the day.

I will agree to this! As an "Average Joe" I just spent the better part of two days and probably a total of 6 hrs with my son installing a new JVC radio in his Honda Civic. Not only was there a radio to install, there was the Ipod adapter and JVC Sirius Connect to install in his car. It was quite a job and involved taking apart the dash, center console, Gear shifter, Rear seats and carpets in the trunk. Our install went well no problems it just was a lot of work. I'm sure people who do it all the time know exactly what to do and where to put the Sirus Box and the Ipod box. That is what took a lot of time. CC quoted us $150 to do the whole job. I'm sure we did a better job but at 6 hrs I'm not sure it was worth all that time in the cold. But I chalk it up to "Male Bonding" with my son.
