Default Anyone solve the Apple Airport dilemma?

After much lurking around this forum I went out and purchased my S100 last week. It arrived today—very cool. The sound is so much better than I expected—my old Orbiter kept the bar pretty low. One problem: I can't seem to get the stations to work via wifi, through my Apple Airport Extreme router. I know a number of people on this forum reported similar findings. Wifi was a serious selling point for me and if I can't get it to work, I'll likely return it for the S10.The S100 seems to recognize my Apple wireless network, but the stations won't play. Sirius tech support wasn't much help.

Any help you can give me to get this thing working indoors (I live in rural central New Hampshire) would be great. Thanks!

Is your Airport doing MAC address filtering?

hmm, I have no idea actually. How do you determine that? I just plugged in the airport extreme and started surfing-I never got around to installing any software, if I recall..

It's in the settings, but if you just plugged and went, it's off.

Clearly there is a default setting that the Stiletto doesn't like. My suggestion would be to run the software for the Apple Wireless Router and make sure you have it set-up according to the settings in the Stiletto Manual. I have a friend that has one and he connects with no problem and I've connected when I've gone to his house using his password.

I've just loaded the airport software and will start tinkering to determine which default setting is preventing the wifi love. If anyone has any leads on what it could be I'd appreciate it.

Just as an update, I LOVE the stiletto. I've posted here a few times inquiring about reception in rural New England. I'll follow up with a lengthier post in a while, but it so far has completely exceeded my expectations. Even the painphones aren't as bad as I was picturing.

does the airport extreme use a B+G combo, or just G. that might be the problem.
That is the only thing I can think of since he just plugged it in and it worked.
in that case, the security is all off.. must be the wrong 802.11 setting.

well, I switched it from a B + G combo to just a B setting and still no luck with the airport. I might take it to my local apple store to see if they have any suggestions. But I won't throw the baby out with the bathwater. it's still a very cool device, with or without operational wifi at my house, I could always buy a new router. Any suggestions for a cheap and effective one that would work with my G5?

I'm using an airport express with my stiletto.
The only suggestion I have is if the airport express is supplying DHCP make sure it is set to give out enough ip's so the stiletto can get one. I'm not sure what the default is but there is a setting for it to only give out 1 ip.

Mine wasn't set to give out enough ip's and the stiletto would see the wireless network but would fail.

has always worked perfectly with my airport extreme.... without MAC filtering you should be able to connect using the windows hex key if needed. Try removing all security if you have any on the router, and then connect hte stiletto. if that still doesn't work... then the stiletto is faulty. thats the best I can do

I have a new theory for why my stiletto still isn't connecting to my airport extreme. I have satellite internet out here in the boonies—I remember our IT people at my work mentioning that it sat won't work well enough to create a virtual private network so I could connect with work from home. Could be the same case. I will test it out by bringing the stiletto to a hotspot later today.

seerius--let us know what you find out, not sure about anybody else, I'm very interested. Don't have this unit as of yet but I do have a extreme base station and a wireless express I use as a extender.

Let us know what you find out.

Your IT guys are correct, the SAT Internet connections do not work well with VPN tunnels. However, If you can stream the Sirius internet feed on your PC it should work on the Stiletto.

I posted this in another thread, but I'll repeat here: I'm 99 percent sure it's not the airport but the satellite internet that is blocking my S100's wifi capabilities. I took it to a local hotspot and connected just fine.

I've got to say, the stiletto has totally exceeded my expectations. It's an amazing device. The big test for me comes next week when I head from central NH to Boston on a bus for my regular commute. If I can get live radio in that setting I'll be set.

I could see the SAT ISP causing the audio to be choppy, but not blocked. Can you open the Listen Online from the Sirius web site?

I looked at my firewall monitor, the Stiletto seems to use the normal HTTP port (80) for its audio stream.
