There are router issues... what are you using?

And if any of you that know more than me want to jump in this thread (*cough* Ruben, *cough*, DAB*), feel free.

Great info. Sounds like the headphones are the big negative, but hopefully they will offer more of a range soon so one can replace them.

Is there any kind of rebate out there that anyone knows about?

Hi Bad,

It's a Netgear MR814 (original firmware) which is a b mode only so that's not an issue. The Mac filtering is off. No Encryption, and I opened ports 8000-9000.
I am pretty much at my wits end.

Hopefully one of the other guys will jump in here within the next 24 hours. I know that there are issues with some routers but I don't personally know which. Where did you get your Stiletto from?

My g/f got it for me from Sirius (I wasn't aware you could get them anywhere else).

Damn...

However, here's an idea. Best Buy and Circuit City have 30-day, no questions asked refund options (even if you open the box, use and activate it). You could always go pick one up and try it out. If it works, send that one back into Sirius. If not, you can take the new unit back and get the money returned. At this point it could be either your WiFi or your unit but I've heard very, very few people that have WiFi issues.

If you select internet radio, does it connect to your wireless AP?

If it does, while it's connected, use Home then Settings then WiFi and press enter. Did it get an address DHCP's from your AP router?

If you go back to the menu and select Device and then Service, do you see Connected OK and the time, plus OK status and below the IP address and the other addresses (Pri and Sec)?

Hi Ed,

Thanks for helping. I can't get that far, when I select the internet radio it searches (and finds) all available networks (the same that my wireless notebook does). It even sees the encrypted ones. Once I try to connect to either my own (with encryption and w/o encryption) it tries to connect and always fails. I have tried every manipulation with my router and nothing works. I am 100% convinced it's the unit. What I can do maybe is go to Circuit City and try to connect side by side with one of their display models (if they allow me onto their encrypted network. That will settle it once and for all. Not a bad idea about buying the new one and making sure it works and just sending the old one back instead of waiting on a repair/exchange.

Also, Starbucks supposedly has accesible WiFi. Everyone I've heard on here can connect to Starbucks. Sadly, I get the same error message as you do but the only times I'm tried to connect are on random WiFi networks I find around my apartment so I don't know if it's my unit or not. It's possible that I'm having the same issues and just don't know it.

In your honor, I might take my Stiletto back and try again. I've been wondering for a year now if I have something wrong with mine because it does exactly what you describe. I might have to try that out.

My guess is that the problem is quite rampant and that people haven't tried that feature ot there are not that many out there for definitive conclusions. I just got off with their customer care people who said that after I return my defective unit it could be a month before I get a replacement. I can garauntee no onw check my unit before it went out the door to see if this feature worked.

I just talked to Circuit City and they said that it's not a problem that they've seen much of- if any. However, I'm gonna go trade mine in anyways just for the sake of knowledge and being able to answer this question to others here. Are you still under a refund warranty with Sirius?

Thankfully, yes. My issue is now what to do with the defective unit. I don't know if they do full refunds on defective merchandise or not. I now know their exchange/repair policy anyway

I'd call and ask. Make sure you document with them that you think you have a defective unit (and make sure you get their name and write down date/time). Make sure you can send it back for a REFUND, not exchange. Tell them you're going to buy one locally. Then, get one from Best Buy or Circuit City. Get the 2 year warranty as well. That warranty can save your ass when it comes to first generation equipment.
