It just left a bad taste in my mouth and so back to best buy it went. I guess I have to realize that problems would happen but since I receive great signal in car and home I for sure thought I would get the same results with my portable, I was wrong. I like where Sirius is going with these products and hopefully the next portable they put out will bring me luck.
Look if you were truly outside with open sky and you are getting drop outs, you got a bad radio. Exchange it! Why is it so hard to understand that S-A-T-E-L-I-T-T-E radio requires line of sight. I have had my stiletto from day one and it works great outdoors with the antenna headphones. All you guys bitching about not getting their stiletto to work inside try this...Go take your directv dish off your roof, and put it inside your living room. Now try and watch TV. Guess what happens??? Same with stiletto. That is the purpose for WiFi so you can still listen to your stilletto indoors...Get it?? Still live radio. Is there any way going forward that we can put a checkbox in the SBS logon screen that says "I understand that satellite radio does not work indoors without a repeater" and another one that says "I understand that it is useless to bitch about the new fm transmitters because the FCC forced sirius and xm to kill their power" Sorry for the rant, but these really don't seem like complicated concepts to understand.

What people? I read this forum everyday and there are several people from Chicago, including TSS-Radio which is in Chicago. I've not seen any of them say anything about reception issues. So, what people are you referring to as having expressed some concerns? You are the only one I've read and based on what you've said, I think you must have a bad tuner. Come on if you can't go stand in a wide open clear area and get reception, then certainly something is wrong, because that doesn't mirror the majority of folks experience.

I live in the middle of the sticks with no repeater as they have in Chicago and I very rarely get drop-outs while using my Stiletto outdoors.

I don't understand how some think they are going to get this magical miraculous reception inside in areas with no repeater. This is satellite radio and in most cases it does require line of site if there is no repeater. Chances are you will need to get home kit and setup an antenna outdoors or get a wireless router and use the Wifi.

By the way this has ZERO to do with anyone having something negative to say about the Stiletto. But when one persons experience simply doesn't mirror that of many, many others and yet they just keep complaining about it, then I have to wonder what is up with that? Go swap out your tuner because the folks I know in Chicago have no reception issues.. NONE, NADA!!

Ya know, I bought a Stiletto because I thought I'd be able to listen to LIVE satellite coverage while in my 200 ft below the earth fallout shelter yet, to my suprise, I get NO SIGNAL, not even ONE BAR? I am so pissed. I'm taking it back. I can't believe Sirius would market a product as portable when it can't even get a signal in a 200 ft below the earth fallout shelter? I mean sure, I'm under the earth surrounded by walls of concrete over 10ft thick with 3ft thick steel blast doors but I'm sure Sirius could come up with a device that meets my any and every need.

What were they thinking? My buddy tells me that Inno would work down here. I'm going to try that out. They have more repeaters.

I live in Canada and SiriusCanada is waiving the setup fee until the end of the year! I bought a Stiletto 100 and subscribed without paying the 19.99 setup charge.

I totally agree....I see people complaining about this very issue. Personally, the wifi capability of the Stiletto 100 was the selling point and prompted me to sign up. Without this feature, I probably would have not subscribed to Sirius.

I bought this radio on the fact that I dont need a direct line of sight because my house radio gets perfect reception and its no where near a window. I thought since I was here in Chicago I would be able use this product indoors without any drop outs, I was wrong. I didnt get the radio for WiFi (that means Im still tied down), I bought it and it didnt work indoors at the gym, and outside it would break up. I fail to see why everyone is getting excited over this, its my opinion and nothing more. I love my Sirius and would trade it for anything but IMO the Stiletto is junk. I dont need Wifi, or Mp3 player or something to record Sirius programing, I wanted a true portable. Maybe it was a bad tuner, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. Let the fanboy rants go.

Everyone I've heard in Chicago can not only get good reception outdoors, but indoors as well. That's not a fanboy opinion, that's the opinion of pretty much every stiletto owner on this board that lives in or has visited Chicago.

Well than it must have had a bad tuner, but I am only stating the problems I did have with it. I really wish that experience didnt sour me, but it did. I do not trust the Stiletto now, and am waiting to see what else Sirius has up there sleves. I am happy that people are loving theirs ( I wish I could have) but I guess it has made me a tad jaded.

Give me a break. I went through 4 farking S50's and I love my Stiletto. Apparently you're easily jaded. The Stiletto, literally, has close to zero complaints- especially from people in major cities. If you can't be bothered to simply return it and try another, then enjoy your FM radio. I have a hard time believing though that somebody is going to become so "jaded" that they're giving up on a product because they got one bad unit. But... enjoy whatever you do.

Well it must not take much to jade you then. Geez, I went through 4 Motorola Razr's with my cell provider before I got one that worked right. I've bought several brand new vehicles in my life too and each one of them had to be brought in to fix issues here and there. I guess I don't understand how anyone could be jaded with one experience. It almost sounds to me like you are just looking for a reason to be jaded.

Because of the lifecycle of these devices and the manufacturing pressure to get them to market, the manufactures do not do the adiquate testing these units deserve. I'm sure they figure in this the risk of "jadedness" of the customers, but have leveraged this risk against speed of delivery and pressure to deliver product to market.

I know there are going to be lemons. Also BB and CC use this to their advantage to sell up extended warranties.

The customer has the ultimate power. He/She can decide not to buy the product.

If you really feel jaded, Exercise your power RETURN IT!

Based on the solid performance of the Stiletto, I think the pressure is off of Sirius to come up with something new. Last year we had the bug ridden S50 and no live reception, and XM did. Now we have live reception(comparable to the XM product, although neither is perfect) and we have wifi.

I would not hold my breath to see what Sirius has up it sleeve. They have a solid product, and it may be a long time.

I agree, the price of the Stiletto is too high just to record Bubba. In fact, Sirius would have to pay me just to tune into that unlistenable hillbilly.

Now, Stern, on the other hand.............................

Along with the car and house antenna cables, every other S50 cable (power, stereo interface, and of course, the cassette adapter used to improve car listenability without a direct HU connection) work perfect with the stiletto.

Changing over my old S50 home and car docks to the Stiletto docks took about 5 minutes each!

Nice job, Sirius.

(plus, BB didn't question the lack of an antenna when I returned my (4th) S50, so now I have a spare if I ever suspect I have a bad antenna)
