Default Stilleto car kit now comes with an FM extender cable?

Just got a stiletto car kit for XMAS. My first one I bought in October. The package of the kit i got for XMAS looks just like the one I bought myself in Oct. , except this one has packed in it a "FM Extender Cable". I found my instruction manual from my first car kit and it made no mention of this cable. This extender cable plugs into the FM out and you are supposed to stick the end of it on your windshield (or rear window) nearest to your antenna. More clutter! Has anyone used this yet? Is it worth it? Did Sirius get tired of giving away Direct FM adapters and decide to do this instead? Havent seen anyone mention this cable on a thread yet. Thanks

It sounds like the little cable they used to ship with the S50. I'm sure it's a lot less than then the FM Direct adapter.

I know that without that adapter I had static, with it, I get perfect reception!

I ordered my car kit from shop.sirius.com. It shipped with the little wires you're talking about inside the packaging of the car dock. In another box came a free FM modulator. I was surprised at that too, Tweeter wanted like $20 for it I think and it came free. I guess they know the FM transmission is weak and more people would just return the docks if they didn't include this for free to make it useable because let's face it, it's not useable really just broadcasting FM without the modulator. The little wires though I sort of feel are clutter and not worth the effort. I think they're trying to appeal to both the do it yourselfers and people who dont mind taking apart their dash.

its like the FM relay that I got with my old sportster. But this cable is about 1000 times longer and comes with adhesive or suction cup connectors to keep the cable in place while it runs along the width (or length ) or your windshield or rear window. Its Part No. FEA25A "FM Extention Cable" if anyone is interested.

Hey Rubin- is it you or Vargas that's really good with the WiFi stuff? Guy over in this thread needs WiFi help with a new Stiletto:

I plugged mine into the back of the car kit and it didn't seem to make a difference at all. I kept my XM cassette adapter and it sounds a lot better. I'll have to try the thing again, but didn't seem to work for me.

This actually sounds like one of the newer FM Extention set-ups that Taylor over at TSS-Radio was telling us about. XM has a new setup like this too.

Can you take some pictures of it?

Is this the little short one or the long one. Because just plugging them in makes very little difference, but if you run the little wire close to your antenna the improvement should be very noticeable. I know in my company van back when I used the FM Trans. I had the little short fm wire and I ran it right up to were the antenna was outside the vehicle and my reception was big time improved. XM's verion of this actually makes you connect it to the antenna itself.

Long one...have not placed it on the antenna. I'll try it out. XM didn't need one with my SkiFi2, it had a poweful transmiter.

Yes the Skifi2 had a good one, that was before it was toned down by the FCC. You can bet the new ones coming out now aren't like that. In fact I've already read several reports over on the XM forums about he Skyfi3 and they are having the same results as Sirius equipment now.

Yes, this is the one that you stick up as close to the antenna as you can get it. Thanks for the picture.
