Default Is Portland, OR a good environment for the Stiletto?

I took a look at the repeater locator on dogstar and Portland only has one of them. I live about 20 minutes drive from where the repeater is. Is that close enough for the Stiletto to pick up the repeater?

My wife bought me a Stiletto for Xmas but I returned it as Wal Mart has a 15 day return policy for 'digital music players'. She recieved the Stiletto in the mail back on 12/11 so I had to return it last night or it was mine for good.

I'd like to get a Stiletto or a Helix from XM. I actually like the Helix better but I like the Sirius channel and music selection much better. I intend to use a unit like this in my garage (with a boombox) and at the gym. My truck will not get a Sirius signal when I pull into the garage so I figure I could use wifi at home with the Stiletto. If it works it would be great and that feature would have a leg up on the Helix.

Having had both XM and Sirius subscriptions for my cars over the years I have noticed that Sirius cuts out more. I guess XM's network of repeaters is more extensive in my area but don't know for sure. I can't enjoy Sirius if I don't get a signal so in that circumstance I'd rather get the Helix. Nothing's perfect I suppose...

and who makes the Stiletto? Directed? Never heard of them....

You might just have to give it a shot and see how it works. Most stores have a 30-day refund policy so you could always get your money back if the signal isn't good enough. Does your gym have WiFi?

If you are that far away from the repeater, then your Truck is only pulling in signal from the Satellite. So, you should lose your signal when you pull into your garage . . . the garage roof should be blocking the line of sight to the satellite.

I'm in the same boat you are - I live over 20 miles away from the nearest repeater in Metro Detroit. I get ZERO on the Terrestrial Antenna Aiming on all of my Sirius receivers. I took my old Sporster magnetic car antenna and stuck it to the metal gutters on my garage pointing straight up, then ran the wire through the side door and attached it to my Sportster Boombox - 100% signal all the time in the Garage from the Satellite. Now that I have my Stiletto and cancelled my Sportster subscription, I'm going to replace the Sportster Boombox with a Stiletto Boombox and do the same thing for reception in my Garage.
