Default Stiletto Executive System or Soloist?

Hi,

I'm not interested in the Boombox and I'm undecided between the Executive System and the Soloist. I like the "Alarm Clock" feature the Soloist has and I don't know if the executive system has it as well? Has anyone done a side by side comparison?

I appreciate any help.

Executive system is just a dock with amplified speakers, has no other options. Soloist offers Sleep mode, alarm clock and music mode for recording. However, I don't really recommend any of these if you plan to do a lot of recording. But for me the Soloist works very well and I've been pleased with it. Some folks bought it and brought it back for various reasons, mainly recording. The remote isn't the best and the LCD on it once you get it set works okay, but does require some adjusting. The small footprint is also nice. I've never been that impressed with Executive System myself.

I have both of these and perfer the executive system. It sounds much better than the soloist and is better for recording programs. I did not like the sound of the soloist. It sounds like your listening to a mono speaker and the bass sounds like its bottoming out. Just my opinion...a lot of people are happy with the soloist. I was not impressed.

Executive it is.

I think he made his choice but maybe he will change his mind and cancel the Soloist with us.

If you have an Ipod go with Soloist for sure.

But other than that, why not the Boombox. Oh yeah space.

If sound is the main thing you are interested in, then the Boombox, will blow both of these away.

I have always been impressed with the flat panel speakers on the Soloist given the footprint it takes, besides it is best to let each person decide if the sound is acceptable to them. Plus the added features of the sleep mode, alarm clock etc. You can't get those on any other speaker system. Since the OP did mention he was interested in those features the Soloist is really the only choice so I think he/she will be happy with it.

My only word of warning is recording, the Soloist for multiple records gets a bit complicated.

I decided for the Soloist. I have to admit the way it looks caught my attention more than anything, and the alarm clock feature allows me to get rid of my cheap terrestrial alarm clock radio. I figured that if I encounter recording problems with the soloist, I can still use the home dock for that. I will report back in this thread what I think of it.

BTW TSS radio is the best place to order Sirius stuff. They are AmAZINg to say the least, when it comes to costumer service. I ordered my Stiletto from them and don't see myself ordering anything Sirius from anywhere else.

Here is the update on my Soloist: I Love It

I was surprised at the size (i thought it would be bigger) but the sound it produces for its size was impressive to me. Keep in mind that I am no audio phile or expert or care know much about great sound quality. The alarm feature works as I expected and I like it. I've done a couple of basic recordings on it but nothing too complicated. If I ever need to shedule back to back recordings I'll report back on my experience but if it doesn't work as expected I can always use the home dock for it. So in over all I'm happy with my Soloist.

Thanks TSS

Thanks Smurf for the Soloist mini review. I really have enjoyed my Soloist a great deal. I use it daily on my bed stand, I go to sleep listening and wake up listening. Talk about a sat radio junkie.

It's funny you say that about the alarm clock, I went the other way around. I went from a soloist to an alarm clock radio that had an aux input. My issues were the clock Display, sleep timer and alarm function.

The home dock does the recording great, the alarm clock plays the music and goes off with the sleep timer and the display on the clock has large numbers and is easy to read and dims down very low at night.

The sound is stereo ( 2 speakers, one one each side ), but is a little tinny, but most of the time my clock radio has headphones plugged into it so I don't disturb my wife.

As DAB said the Boombox blows away the sound of the soloist. I just got mine and it sounds great!
