Default Stilleto Modification

I spent a little time modifying my stiletto this evening. I ended up with the below (see picture).

I sanded a little bit of the rubber off the power cord so it has a flat spot to allow some room to charge the battery while the Antenna is plugged in. I also removed a small amount of the headphone/antenna jack plastic.

Both can be plugged in and do not touch each other.

I heavily modified the headphones to just be an antenna for use at work, and also to velcro to my bike helmet, or back pack for riding purposes.

I hope this helps.

Nice work. Best use of those crappy headphones I've seen yet!

Did you actually clip any of the ear pieces of the headphones?

Nice Mod!

Kermit..does the wire run into the earpiece? If so how did you "cap off" the ends?(of the wire) Or is the wire only needsd for sound to the earpiece? I will only attempt this if I am sure I won't ruin the antenna part.
Thanks for any help...

On the headphones if you look near the ear bud you can see there is a plastic cover on the part that slides in and out to adjust, once you pop this open you'll see there are 2 wires where it comes in and one wire on the earbud only side. There is a main wire that runs up to the antenna at the antenna it splits off and runs back down to the ear pieces. Once you pop off the ends you'll see the wire is just tucked in along the edge of the headphone itself you can pull it out and I was trying to see where the wires to the ear buds went when they just popped off, I did not open the antenna area as it was sealed up pretty good and I wanted to keep it that way.

Hope that helps if you guys need more pictures let me know.

Looks good. I actually considered doing this when I first bought my Stilleto but didn't have the guts to destroy the headphones just yet. What really bothers me if I had done this I never would have had to buy a car kit.

I did the same thing the other day, then velcroed the antenna to the top of a baseball hat. I'm disappointed now that I didn't try to modify the headphones into an antenna and 2 earbuds. I could have hidden the extra wire for the earbuds in the stitching of the hat. That way I would only have one connection into the Stiletto, and I could elminate the second wire for the other set of ear buds I have to use now.

Does anyone know if I can buy another Stiletto antenna headphones set? I'd really like to try to modify another set and use the included speakers as ear buds.

PM pantedantenna on this forum or check tss-radio.com. I'm betting he has some headphones.

Thanks man! I just e-mailed tss-radio.com. If I can get my hands on a set and make the modification successfully, I will make a thread and post photos.

Some mod must have changed what I wrote- I certainly wouldn't have gotten that wrong!

I feel like I should go to the board and write "pantedantenna" 100 times.

Any chance the Antenna Headphones are available?? I didn't see them on your website, or at Sirius.com.

Cheers -

I had considered using the ear buds but you can't get the earbuds apart enough to make them comfortable. They are still a big chunk of plastic that doesn't fit in your ear comfortably.

I left enough of the earbuds wire that I might be able to solder a different set of comfortable earbuds on to the wire. I could get the length on the wire right then, instead of having to wrap the extra up. I might swing by Target later to pick up a cheap set to play with first before I go and destroy an expensive set of earbuds.
