Default Noobs view of the Stiletto...

Only my second post on the forum, but I have read virtually every post and have learned a tremendous amount, thanks to all.

My wife bought me an S100 for Xmas and I have been using it quite a bit since then.
Overall, I love the thing. Maybe it is because I live near a major city (I'm an hour south of NYC) but my outside reception is excellent. If I wear the antenna earbuds I always have at least two bars and it very rarely cuts out. I don't find those earpieces nearly as uncomfortable as everyone else, although I did add a set of foam microphone covers (1.29 at the shack) which made them feel great. I have factory Sirius in my car so I really don't need the car kit, but I take it with me in the car and let it record live content while I'm out. My 12 year old son came up with the idea of trapping the antenna portion of the headset in the sunshade from the sunroof. This works great, keeping the antenna in just the right position and allows the wire to drape down to the cupholder while it records.
I have burned a bunch of my favorite CD's to it, so between those and the recorded live content I already have a bunch to listen to when I can't go live or internet.
The Wifi works great in my house, set up was quick and easy and I get a great signal everwhere, I love this feature. I also used it yesterday in a Barnes and Noble that had a Starbucks with Wifi in it. I grabbed a book, sat and read and listened to internet radio for about an hour.
If you understand and are ready to accept the limitations of satelite radio I really think this wil be a purchase you will come to be very happy with, I know I am.

Great post!! Glad to hear it's working well for you. And you're exactly correct in your last statement- the only people that seem to dislike the Stiletto are those that were expecting way too much. The satellite signal for both XM and Sirius is inherently limited, but there are definitely ways to improve it (such as what you did with the antenna headphones). Great second post... hopefully your next 100 will be just as good!

I agree, great post. I too wondered about getting some foam to cover the knives they used for ear pieces. Although my wife says she doesnt mind them that much. Do you recall what those foam mic covers were called that you bought? I assume they were for like a clip on shirt mike or something? The $1.29 helps as I can just look for that but my Shack doesn't seem to carry as much of the odds and ends as they used to.

Talking I have to agree 100%!

I just received the Stiletto 100 for Christmas also and I love it (despite some of the bad reviews I have read). I get great reception outside, even around buildings and trees, and I even get 2 bars in my office building, and it doesn't cut out at all. I don't get great reception in my house, but it doesn't matter because I am able to utilize the WiFi feature there. I have put a ton of music on it with memory to spare, and I can't wait to get the armband/clip so I can workout with it. I love this thing so much, I don't want to put it down!

Yeah it didn't work for me. I got a 4 pack of lav mikes covers and the hole is too small and I just ruined them. Item number?

Welcome to the forum nj1326! Tell us more about those covers. Maybe a picture might show their comfort end pieces. Can you post the radio shack part number for those of us that might want to get a set?

Thanks for your post and welcome to SBS Forum.

Unfortunately I didn't save the package with the information on it. They are wind covers for lapel mikes though. If I can get back to RS in the next few days I'll pick up another package and post the info.

These from Radio Shack may work, I can't tell if they are too big or not. But they are for a tie clip microphone. Radio Shack on shows 3 items like this listed, but none for $1.29

DAB those are exactly what I grabbed and they do not fit. All I did was tear them. Hole is not much bigger than ball point pen with no room for stretching around ear piece. The long shape would work but hole was just too small.

Thanks for the info... The picture certainly makes them look bigger. Hopefully we can find out what the stock number is for the ones nj got.
