Smile My mini review of the Stiletto 100.

Hey all, I've been a lurker for quite a while. Others have done much more extensive reviews, so I'm just going to point out things that I've personally found of note. I previously had the Xact XTR1, so Replay is a new feature to me.

I just got the Stiletto 100 for Christmas and I must say I am extremely pleased by it's functionality. As has been mentioned previously, the interface is well designed. What I really appreciate is how well the Radio Replays functionality works. What the device lacks in signal reception in my car it easily makes up for thanks to the Replay feature. I live downtown Seattle and benefit greatly from the terrestrial repeater, but the car ceiling definitely shields the unit from satellite reception when out of the city. That's when the Radio Replays feature is really great. I'll just listen to previously recorded channels!

The WiFi access has worked great to provide live content, and I use that a lot when I want to listen at the coffee shop where the satellite and terrestrial signal doesn't reach. I use Shure e3c canal phones, so the lower quality of the "free" Sirius stream is much more apparent to my ears, but I'll take that over no service.

I really like the Love button, not for creating an archive of my favorite music though. Sirius is much more DJ oriented than XM, so I find that the Love button isn't very useful for making long term recordings because of talking over the music. I do like the ability to temporarily save songs that I'd like to have until I purchase or let friends listen to for novelty purposes.

I'm an iPod junkie, so I will preach the praises of the click wheel. It is much more intuitive to me than all the other interfaces I've seen.

A design element I wish they would/could have implemented is a unified Satellite / WiFi user interface. Imagine being able to find the channel you want to listen to while walking outside, walk into your house, and immediately the device switches to WiFi, thereby saving battery power. In other words, there wouldn't be separate Satellite / Internet menu items. In my little fantasy world the Replay features would work with WiFi too. Of course, thanks to licensing issues and pure implementation complexities, there are numerous issues that would make such an integration nearly impossible at this point.

* Replay is great! It's like an audio TiVo! I love the pause button!
* The Love button is handy for having a temporary copy of a song.
* Two batteries, two sets of headphones INCLUDED! Wow!
* WiFi!
* Click wheel navigation-- just like my iPod.

* Sirius needs to provide the $2.99 internet stream to the S100.
* Device is a bit on the tall, thick and awkwardly shaped side...
* I'm always scared I'm going to scratch that huge shiny front panel.

Overall, I am really enjoying my S100. I hope they do continue to release firmware updates to keep making this great device even better.

Nice post!! And if you're using it outside, I suggest picking up the armband/beltclip combo from The sleave has a plastic cover over the face of the unit so you won't have to worry about scratching it.

Here's a link to a bunch of accessories:

Get the protective overlays. Two come in a package. They really protect the screen and they fit under the cases.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll definitely get myself one of those skins. I have that kind of setup for my iPod and it keeps it in excellent condition.
