At the time this was a hot topic. With the whole WMP 11 issue. For those still using XP. I'm curious...If any folks have now upgraded to WMP 11, and if it is now working better. Not that I have any desire to upgrade to 11. I'm just curious if the problem was ever fixed ? My usage on the board is much less now, but I can't recall it being discussed in recent times.

Bottom line is, Silly Sirius still refuses to fully support WMP11 this late in the game. I had zero trouble with WMP10 with my S50. I tried to upgrade to 11 early this year but also ran into problems with MSS not seeing my S50. Took a whole lot of cleaning and reloading WMP10 to get it all fixed. Is Sirius.....uhhhh, serious about staying around with us for the long haul, or is this a sign of more troubles in the future as the world (and Windows) moves on?

Actually the official word from Zing is that the Stiletto SL100 is compatible with the final release version of WMP11. The problem that most experienced was because they were either using a beta or still had remnants of the beta. I have tested the final version of WMP11 on both XP and Vista and it works perfectly with the Stiletto. The S50... well it has its own forum for discussion, but it isn't compatible and they don't plan to make it so.

Ok I'm running vista. My stiletto is going to be here in a few days. Will the latest version of mss work with vista?

I just went through 24 hours of over this. One of the hardest tech issues I've faced in the past couple of years and I'm still not sure what happened or how exactly it got fixed.

Everything seemed to start out well: My PC made the same noise it makes whenever I connect a USB device. An icon showed up in the system tray and I was prompted for what I wanted Windows to do. This was the first sign of trouble, as opening the Stiletto 100 with Windows Explorer was never an option. The icon disappeared from the system tray after a few seconds, and the Stiletto never showed up anywhere except under the Hardware tab in System Properties. Of course the Windows troubleshooter kept telling me there was nothing wrong with it. I knew the port and the PC were fine because I tried every other USB device I have and each worked without a problem.

My first call to tech support yielded someone who sounded like she was the janitor. All she did was read from the manual. Finally she told me to return the radio. Two hours and a rain-soaked round trip later, I'm at my PC with the same problem.

I couldn't find an answer anywhere, so I reluctantly called Sirius again. Got a very friendly guy named Jeremy who tried everything to no avail. I was just about to return the player and cancel my subscription when the conversation turned to WMP. I told him I don't let Windows upgrade my version 10 because of all the things I'd read about version 11. I do, however, subscribe to the automatic Windows Update. Jeremy speculated that one of those updates may have installed elements of the beta WMP 11 even though my WMP was still showing as version 10, and we figured I'd have nothing to lose by installing the final release WMP 11. It worked.

The only other thing I did was upgrade MSS from the older version 1.1 that was on both of my CDs to the newest version 1.3. I did this before I upgraded WMP, however, and it didn't help. At the same time, I was told to not use any of the software on the CD, and that it's best to download the full version of 1.3 from Sirius (as opposed to installing from the CD and downloading the smaller upgrade file.) I don't know why this would be, and I don't plan to do it since I'm running OK now, but thought I'd put it out there. Be warned, the full MSS 1.3 is about a 140-meg file and downloads from Sirius don't exactly zip along (for me, at least.) Link.

The Stiletto icon still falls out of my system tray, which makes it impossible to "safely" remove the Stiletto unless I do a system shutdown. But the device shows up in MSS and Windows Explorer and I'm able to get files on and off, so that's good enough for me.

Hope this helps someone, and can't wait to see what WMP11 does to my other media files. Also waiting for the day when the Sirius technology catches up with the concept.

well, it seems most are at least a step ahead of me. When I connect my Stiletto to the dock, I hear the "connect" wave but that's it. Nothing in the system tray and no Stiletto device shows in MSS. Go t all kinds of mp3's showing in the program but of course cannot load them to the radio.
