Default Car Dock Not Charging Stiletto

When I put the Stiletto in my car dock it turns on and the charging "+" shows for 1 or 2 seconds then turns off. It seems to turn off when the car antenna is detected because the reception goes from 1-3 bars at the same time. The car dock seems to have power because all the lights work on the dock and are fully functional. Everything works fine except the unit will not charge. I went back to BB where I had it installed. They checked the setup and hooked up 3 more car docks, all the ones they had left, and they all did the same thing. They also found it odd since the car dock appears to be getting power. The tech suggested maybe there were a bad batch of car docks and it may be fixed in the next shipment. Anyone else have this happen?

My first post here, but I've been reading for the last month. Thanks for all the helpful information here.

Maybe the battery is fully charged. The green + sign goes away when the battery is charged.

The battery runs down. I leave with a full charge and it goes down on my way to work. I haven't had it below 2 bars though. Does the battery not charge until it gets to 1 bar or low power?

No. If mine is at 3 bars it charges on my way to work. Then the green + sign goes away.

I had the same thing happen.

It was also happening in my home dock and Soloist. So I took the Stiletto back and got a new one.

Mine seems to be very intermittent. I had used it outside of the car dock and the battery was down to 3 bars out of the 4. I put it in the car dock and drove the car several times throughout the day for about 15 mins each time.

The green plus would sometimes, but not always come on. About 90% of the time it was not showing the green plus sign, yet the unit and the dock were properly powered. The battery indicator was never fully up - always 3 out of the 4 bars.

Any ideas? My car power socket (not the cigarette lighter) powers it all of the time regardless of whether the engine is off or on. So I can run the dock and the Stiletto when the engine is off. Therefore shouldn't it also charge the battery while the unit is off? Yet after 10 hours in the dock, it was still at 3 bars of battery.

I would follow fivers advice... go swap it out! Sounds like the charging mechanism is defective to me!

I have exactly the same problem. It's not a fully charged battery because the unit will not wake itself from sleep to record a scheduled program. I've already returned one dock because of the "antenna not detected" problem. Now I don't know whether it's the dock or the Stiletto.

Are you using the car or home dock?

If you are using a car dock it won't wake itself up, because it isn't designed too. In the home dock even if the tuner is off, the Stiletto should still be charging. There is no indicator of it charging while it is turned off, though if you have the home dock and its in standby mode the blue light on the side will flash while charging and remain on when fully charged. If the unit is turned off totally the light on the home cradle is disabled. Also the home dock will only start recording from standby, not while totally turned off.

Guess I need to get my car dock installed to see if it is faulty.

Odd part for me is that It charges in both of my home docks, just not the car dock. Thanks for the tip though. I'll see if BB can throw another Stiletto in there and see what happens.

Given this information, maybe you should try swapping out the car dock in question.

Similar situation for me: it charges just fine with the direct power adapter. Maybe I'm just not pushing it down in the car dock hard enough or something? And I never bother with the lock/unlock in the car dock. Does it need to be locked for the charging to happen?

I really don't want to take it back to Best Buy (got mine there also) since it would mean I would loose all of my sat recordings.

I'm using the slim battery - what about you SatelliteGhost?
