Post wifi problem with radio

Hello to all I am new to the forum and in need of help. Like others I've seen posted people are having problems with the internet radio. I have a belkin pre n wireless router that has and a channel g/b broadcast which I am using. I have been trying to troubleshoot my connection problems since christmas and have no luck. I use mac filters but no encryption. I see the network, connect then lose the audio afer about 2 min then the channel unavailable / service not reachable message comes up.
I've opened ports 8000-9000 as a last resort but still have the same problem. Anyone have a suggestion on how I might get this internet radio feature to work. I really would enjoy the use at home with out a home kit.
Thanks in advance to any who reply...

I know it is not a great idea for a long time, but you may want to turn off all security for a few minutes and see if it helps... if there is a way to set it to use only 802.11B, that might be an idea too... that way you can see if it works under perfect conditions.. after it works (or doesn't) you can add one security feature at a time to see what the problem is.. I use linksys and have had good luck (even with security on)

I wondered about the dual broadcast with G/B but the posts I've read on people who have connections don't seem to have a problem with the it broadcasting in both G/B. I did try to find a b only mode but it would not allow it. Additionally I found no postings about mac filters being a problem. I have been reading the board off and on all day and it appears the eastest thing for me to consider is to go get a linksys router. I appreciate the post I'll reply here if Belkin gives me a solution or I do the easy thing and buy a new router.

Go with the minimum security and no mac filters, shut down any enhanced speed "turbo" modes, and be sure there is no "G-Only" mode.

Default Wifi Works!!!

Ok first thanks to those who gave ideas I appreciate the help. Second I did get my wifi to work without having to buy a new router AND no help from Belkin or Sirius tech support mind you. Message board/forums rule!
For those that may have the same problem of disconnecting after a few minutes I have a pre n belkin wireless router which I filter with mac addresses.
I did NOT have to turn off mac filters which was great and the firewall setting in the router did not have to shut off. What I did have to do is this.
Under the channel/ssid menue you get the option of setting the ACK mode I had mine at immediate ack initially. Also the 802.11e Qos is enabled by default. I disabled this feature coupled with the ACK mode being turned off and BAM I got internet radio at home!! Now my streaming media may suffer some as a result of this but I don't care I got all my sirius stations so I'm happy. Anyone needed more info give a shout back.
Thanks again to all who offered advise it all pointed me in the right direction

Welcome to the world of wifi streaming. Thats good info for Belkin users.

Sirius is new to the wifi game, and the support is a little weak. Belkin has been in it for a while, but the online Belkin documents are just as weak. Did you actually call Belkin for support?

yes I did and they told me they were experiencing heavy calls and wanted a call back number (this was on Saturday morning) I asked what the approximate call back time was. I was told 2 hours. It's Sunday night 1926 hrs and I still have not been called back.
I haven't shut my radio off since wifi has worked I truly love that I can feel like I am getting my money's worth out of my subscription. If they ever call back (not) I'll be sure to let you know.
I will say this for their tech support when I first got the router I needed to reset it and the button didn't work so I had to call to get a work around and they did help me with that issue. So for the record they are 50-50 right now.

Default New issue I don't recall being posted at all

So first off I really never use my wifi. The last time I used it was shortly after I bought the radio. Which was about three months ago. I just tried it a few times to make sure it was working. Usually when I try it. It's at a public wifi area in town like our plaza or a coffee shop. I tried it today to see if it was still working. It is not working. I don't recall anyone discussing the issue I am having with it. I have never had to do a full recovery on my radio yet. I suppose I could, but wanted to find out if others have experienced this problem. On the home page. Highlight internet radio. Select it. The screen flashes once. Then it comes back to the home page still highlighted on internet radio. That's all that it does. Do a hard shut down. Turn back on. Still the same result. I paid good money. I just want all the features to be actually working. Even though I will not use it. So it is not a emergency for me. Does anyone have any ideas? Please...

You may want to try the recovery, it did help with my problems after the update.

The high flying Sirius birds made it less necessary for Sirius to have a huge repeater network, like XM. I wish that there was one by me, but I am about 2 miles too far from NYC to get repeater signals.

Mine does this every so often. but it works if i just select a new channel, wait for it to buffer, then go back to the original station i wanted. I had not noticed this before new firmware....

I'd be willing to try the recovery after I get my new toy. Even if your radio is working fine. Would a full recovery be considered a healthy thing to do every now, and then. To keep things clean so to speak. Any other ideas on my situation with the wifi issue?

I have never seen this issue and I use the Internet Radio (Wifi) feature every day Monday thru Friday when I am at my various office locations. But I would think the recovery proceedure would fix it. You may want to make sure in the future that ever so often you connect to a wireless device just to keep it functional.

I have experienced this many times and I have reported this issue as a bug. What is strange is it only does this if you do not have it docked. If you have it docked it won't do it. When I am away in my various office locations of course I use it in stand alone mode, so I see it fairly often. When it does happen if you go right back to the same channel it will be as if never got bounced off the channel. But if you connect to another channel and then go back to the channel you were listening to then this fixes it. This is really more of an annoyance than anything and it only does it when you first connect in the Internet Radio mode.

I've had both issues reported by peacepeddler and fozzyd.

It just did it to me again. i woke it from previously listening to sat and put it in wifi, got like 10 seconds of sound then silent and back to home screen. Reselect same channel, and it's been running an hour without hitch. no dock.

Maybe the fix to shut the sat chip off causes the wifi to sometimes stop ? or sumptin' ....
