Default Bad Car Dock

Did my first car install in 20 some years. Got out some wire fishing tools that my wife had never seen, snaked the antenna through nice and clean. Installed the Pro Kit hardwire kit, with the FM relay, Panavise mount and even hid the cassette adapter wire behind the dash and across the face of the radio.

Powered up to "Antenna not detected". Pulled the wires from the botom of the dock, got the plug in power adapter and found my spare home dock antenna, still "Antenna not detected".

Moral of the story, test the stinkin dock before you put it in! Oh well, of to the local CC to get a replacement.....

Pics will be posted later, when it actually works.

Was the dock plugged in to the power securly? was the dock turning on at all (i.e. blue lights)? That was my problem. After bending out the metal wings on the plug, it holds better. I still occasionally get the power issue and have to push the plug in though.

obk,

I am using the Pro-Install kit, it has a hard-wired voltage converter, so the wings are still in a box.

***EDIT*** See the review of the Pro-Kit here http://www.siriusbackstage.com/forum...ad.php?t=93128

It was dead, new one works perfectly through the cassette adapter. Have not checked the FM relay yet.

My first car dock would give me 1 bar of signal and then fade to "acquiring signal". I had it replaced and the second one works great. I have read that alot of the car docks were faulty.

For anyone interested, I added installation pics to the Pro-Kit thread.
