Sirius cannot stream the news channels as they don't own the content or the rights to broadcast them via the Internet.

It would be nice if they could do a custom stream just for Stiletto users of all the channels.

If not they should be doing a repeater like XM has. I love the ability to wear the Stiletto around the house and listen, but having all the feeds would be even better.

I would totally love this because during the course of my day I listen to wifi almost exclusively. I also agree about the personal repeater.

Call it a hack but.....

Capture CNN's live feed to a file or loop the audio back to line in and capture there.
Use Windows Media Encoder to draw from either the file or line in.
Using DNS hacks take over a wifi channel you would not normally listen to, and bounce that channel request to the machine running WME.

Default personal repeater

What's the XM personal repeater? Does it pick up the terrestrial signal better for the Stiletto? I would love this, it can get pretty spotty when walking around...

I am computer savy... But think about it. If you are going to go to all that trouble to redirect your computer to broadcast something that you could just listen to on your computer or turn on your tv in your house for CNN or FOX.

This looks like a solution in search of a problem....

Like I said sounds GEEK to me.

The XM repeater would not work for a portable. It is a 2 piece system, think of it as a wireless antenna cable. The transmitter connects to an outdoor antenna and transmits the satellite signal over a different frequency. The reciever(s) get this signal and feed it to the antenna input of the radio. The nice part is one outdoor antenna can feed multiple indoor units. The bad part is it is the expense, with a transmitter at $170 (includes one receiver antenna) and additional recievers at $70.

Since the Stilleto does not have an antenna input without the dock it would not work. From other posts on the SBS forums, it does not work with Sirius equipment at all.

I don't believe that. I am about as computer savvy as you can be. Heck I can build a computer, upgrade a computer, swap out parts. I am pretty savvy with software too. But this still sounds like Geek to me.

Mike sort of states my feelings on it too, sounds like a solution in search of a problem.

Hawk is right about the XM repeater it will not work with SIRIUS equipment. But with its current design (XM Repeater) doesn't really allow for true portability. It isn't like a real terrestial repeater.

Actually it really is kinda easy... the hard part was figuring out what "black boxes" were needed and how to arrange them.

But I have no problem being one of the resident geeks. It is what I do, it is who I am.
