Question Should I do standby recordings while in leather case?

I like to keep my Stiletto in the SL-LC1 leather case:

http://www.tss-radio.com/stiletto-le...c1-p-4060.html

At night turn it off (standby), plug it in, and a few hours later I have a timer that kicks in to record 6 hours of Howard.

On the SL-LC1 case, there is a warning not to charge the battery and do live listening at the same time while in the case or it might overheat and cause damage.

My question is: does the timer recording not use the same amount of battery power as live satellite listening? I would imagine that it would since in both cases it's decoding the sat signal. Would it make a difference that I have it charging for a few hours first before the recording starts? (So the battery is probably charged by the time the recording starts.)

I guess my question really is: is it safe to do this while leaving it in the leather case or do I really need to be taking it out every single night (just an extra hassle)?

I have the Stiletto Leather Case SL-LC1 I do take mine out of the case, On that case, the front cover is detachable. I leave the front cover of the case over the LCD just to keep the display off.

I personally do not recommend charging and listening live with a case on the unit. These units run without a case at about 140 degrees. The tuner with the case on it and charging can easy get up to 150 to 155 degrees. I tested this to find out. Again I don't recommend it.

^ But just to confirm, "listening live" and "recording while in standby with the AC adapter plugged in" would be essentially the same thing right? In both cases, the sat decoder chip is running and generating the same amount of heat - right?

Maybe this is why my house is beginning to smell like a BBQ pit.

Just make sure you don't put any BBQ sauce on it, because they won't cover that under warranty! LOL
