You could go with the conversion that me_rubin and I wrote, with some Velcro to attach the antenna to the helmet.

I wonder how much someone would pay for the conversion. It takes about 5 minutes to take them apart. Another 10 minutes to solder and re-assemble.

I bet somone would pay $20 bucks to have theirs converted.

Good pocket change for someone in High School or College.

The risk is you break the units and they cost 50 bucks to replace if you could get them.
