Question What Happened to 128k Streams for the Stiletto?

I thought they were going to upgrade the WiFi stream to 128k "soon"?

Anyone know anything?

128 was never meant for the stiletto, it's over your computer only.

This is something that was suggested and they said they would look into possible doing this, but never has it been said it would in fact happen.

If this is something you'd really like to see, don't forget to show up for the Support Chat when we ask about features you'd like to see, suggest this one.

That is correct, there is an announcement at the top of the screen in every forum.

The device can handle 128kbs stream.

The issues are probably:

1) How the device knows if the account is flagged for premium content.
Probably doesn't matter. The device may request it, the server checks the account status and says yes or no. The issue then becomes how to have the device inform the user to upgrade the account

2) Setting up the streaming servers for the premium content.
The servers the online players (sirius.com, yahoo widget, etc, etc) connect to a different set of servers that the SL does. So another "farm" would need to be setup to handle the SL 128kbs stream.

3) What if the pipe is not big enough to handle that much data?
The thought here is to have a setting/network to specify "use 32" or "use 128" since you are more likely to know if you have the throughput to handle the stream

So to get the 128kbs stream Sirius needs to patch the device and get the infrastructure in place.

Too bad they couldn't offer the 128 stream for free if you have a Stiletto. Would be another great selling point.

They should offer the high quality stream and full channel list for Stilletto streaming, or they should make an indoor repeater so we get satellite feed indoors on a wearable device.

GREAT IDEA! I mean the whole point of the WiFi is so you can listen when out of Satellite range. A 38k stream does no justice for music. Especially when the volume is louder than a whisper.

It is very doubtful they will offer the higher bitrate streaming for free. I think at minimum it would require the $2.99 per month fee for the SIR Premium.

For legal reasons there is no way they ever offer all the current Sat channels via Wifi. But I do agree a personal repeater is long past due.

While I'd prefer the 128kb streaming myself, I really can't complain about the 34kb streaming, it serves me well while at work.

is there anyway to see what the bitrate is that you are receiving on the stiletto? just got/activated my stiletto.
been a subscriber for a year+ (sportster) and have the internet premium service as well. night and day difference with the better bitrate (use the yahoo widget a lot).
from what i'm reading, wifi via stiletto is only 38k. and 128k isn't currently available? if that's true has there ever been any discussion of upping the bitrate for stiletto?
just trying to get this straight.

The only way to see it is to capture an analyze the traffic between the SL and the stream server.

Here is an example. I was figuring out what servers were used for each of the WiFi channels the SL can connect to. I've highlighted the bitrate info.
