Question Anyone in or near LA have a Stiletto?

Thinking (I emphasize thinking) about looking into one for my long, daily dog walks. I've read mixed reviews on the reception. I'm Pasadena (duh) and there are a lot of big trees, not too many big buildings in my neighborhood, anyone have any experience out here - or in a similar town with the live reception?

If the live is bad, how is the recording? I had an S50 lat year for a few months, but had a lot of problems. I don't mind recording, but I really don't know if I am down for buying the other docks I need. I've forked out a lot for sirius lately.

Do you have Sirius now? If not, check the "antenna aiming" and see if you have a strong terrestrial signal- that's often key to outdoor reception. Other than that, just give it a shot. Many stores have 30day, no questions asked, return policies so no harm in testing reception.

PasadenaJay: I also live in Pasadena and messed around with a friend's Stiletto for a weekend. Reception is slightly better than average. You get a lot of dropouts near trees, but if you get in a good clear spot, it does pretty well. If you can handle the painful antenna headphones, it's even better.

It's better than I thought it would be, but it still isn't as consistent as my Inno. I find that my Inno works pretty much anywhere in Pasadena.

If you go downtown or over to West LA, the reception is very good.

I'd get it, and see what you think. You can always return it, I guess. FWIW, I think it's easily the best Sirius radio ever designed. It is so much better than the S50. Go over to the Circuit City on Rosemead and get one.

i live in West LA and have had the stiletto for 3 months..... it works pretty darn well. Satellite reception is fine in a clear space, under trees it can cut out, but this is all pretty standard. Most of the reception is from repeaters and not satellites if you look at the antenna aiming on the unit. And I never really use the antenna headphones, just my ipod earbuds.
I love the device, have used my ipod nano or video since the day I bought the stiletto. I would buy and try.... can always return to the store.

I was a little worried about the reception, especially since I walk on Green a lot, and there are huge trees covering it as you know. I may try it out.

Thanks for the info all!
