Default New to forum - advice needed on using Stiletto in rental cars

Hi, all. I've been following the posts on the Stiletto but this is my first post. I've had a Starmate for the past year and have been very happy with it. I travel frequently in rental cars and just plug the Starmate in and slap the antenna on the roof and am good to go. I recently purchased the Stiletto 100 (after much research on Sirius Forums) so I could take advantage of the MP3 capability and download music from Sirius channels. I currently have two subscriptions for the Starmate and the Stiletto but would like to let go of the Starmate and just have one subscription. In two weeks, I'm getting the Stiletto professionally installed in my car by a local installer (not Best Buy thanks to the Forum messages). I know the Stiletto needs a docking station to play in a car (I'm not going to rely on the Wifi signal since I live in Maine and it's too unreliable here.) My question concerns use of my Stiletto in rental cars--is the best bet for me to purchase another vehicle docking station for mobile use in other cars? Can I simply plug the docking station in to another car's cigarette lighter adapter and put the antenna on the roof like I did with the Starmate? Also, if a rental car does not have the "aux in" feature, am I going to have difficulty with interference on the Stiletto?

Thanks in advance for your input. Really appreciate all the good advice in the Forum.

if you can afford to get another car kit then get one. or if you arent bothered by taking the car kit around to different cars go that way either way, you will need the car kit to get power, antenna, fm. i've heard the fm transmitter is bad for a lot of people, thankfully i have an AUX in on my car.

you can also use a tape adaptor (although lots of rentals now have cd players and no tape players, so that might be a problem)

Buy an FM Modulator that can connect to the Stiletto (anyone that uses a headphone jack for input will do).

Hang the headphones from the rear view and listen away.

From my experience the crucial factor regarding the FM transmitter in the car dock is the placement of the radio antenna. If it is on the roof then you probably will have issues but if it is in the windshield you should be OK assuming you put the radio on the car seat or cup holder. It needs a clear path to the antenna.
