I have an adapter similar that I use on my MYFI. the bottom of my MYFI looks like the bottom of the Stiletto .On the side of the MYFI it has a place to plug an antenna that clips on to your clothing which works about as good as the headphones do on the Stiletto BUT an aftermarket company makes an adaptor that allows you to use the car or home antenna to plug into the same location ......... http://store.xmfanstore.com/directconnect.html
unfortunatly the Stiletto has no place that it can be used ,I tried .

Even if you connect a antenna to the stiletto connector ( with no dock), still wont work, I tried it, and so have some others. The stiletto still does not recognize the antenna is there, something in the headphone connector OR the antenna headset itself turns that on somehow. I used an old XAct dock connector and plugged it right into the stiletto.

I'm thinking that if we had two of the SMB Adapters we could make it work by putting some RG6 cable in between the two connectors and the Antenna.

I think if we had two of these it may work. Or if they could make an adapter that is Male SMB to Male SMB

What do you think VDCHawk?

Thanks

You are correct, somehow the headphone connector activates or supplies power on the coax. Its magic is sealed in the rubber part of the connector (yes I cracked one open).

Sorry, no photos of that, not much to see. Just a connector and a circuit board with the wires connected. Not the wires from the headset, there is something sealed in the rubber portion of the connector where they connect.

I am currently in conversations with Brent from techtoolsupply about possibly making an adapter. I'll let you know where we get with this.

Make sure you let him know about the need for voltage to turn off the internal antenna and route to the external one. Maybe get VDCHawk to talk to him.

Is this proven? Voltage or Ground? Antenna isn't powered, I know that because there is isolation between antenna input and VCC, only ground of the antenna is continuous.

If you believe that the antenna is powered, show us where we can measure continuity between VCC and the antenna.

I don't think it's proven. I know I did not but I believe VDCHawk took some measurments and suggested this might be the case. I do know that without something to trigger it it will use the internal antenna. Maybe it is a ground. My point was to make sure that this person who is making the connector is aware of the situation.

Measured it at the coax end inside the headphones, shield to center. You can also measure the output of a dock, shield to center. If you search the Stiletto forum you will find my post with voltages.

The same type of powered antenna is done for Sat-TV LNB power, XM and Sirius radios, and GPS antennas.

The antenna power is isolated from the VCC, the antennas normally run 3.5V not the full 5V. This is why you see no connection,

Gotcha, that makes sense now. I never measured the antenna shield to center while powered on. I am glad I didn't short out sheath to center, that could have blown my stiletto's antenna power supply!

You need to get into the top of the headphones to measure, but the voltage is there, along with a lot of little chips.

Are voltages for dock antenna port the same as inside the headphone antenna?
..I searched but didn't find your post on measured "voltages"
