Wow, I'm quoteable

Just for the hell of it being the plugs are the same on the bottom of the MYFI and the Stiletto I took out the guide pins and some other plastic in my MYFI car dock just for the hell of it to see if the Stiletto would use the car antenna with no external power supply but it kept trying to use the internal antenna and stays on aquiring signal . Thought I might get lucky , I should of known better .

Default IF I'm reading this thread correctly...

Are you all trying to find an alternative antenna from the clunky-uncomfortable headphone antenna that comes with the Stilletto?
If so, I (and many other's like me- I'll explain) would be very interseted:

I am a long-distance backpacker. I've been packing an MP3 player with an FM receiver for my hikes. The FM receives very few signals in the areas I hike. The Stiletto was a God send... or so I thought.

Unless there's a repeater nearby, the reception I get on my Stiletto is fairly weak. Without the headphone antenna connected, I get one bar when I hold the unit out in front of me. If I place the unit in my pcket, signal is lost.

If I connect the headphone antenna, I can get two bars, but placement of the antenna is critical (best location is on top my head). Of course, the problem here is the uncomfortable feeling the headphones give. I've been hiking with the antenna headphone strapped to the top of my pack and plugging in the ear buds, but I suspect I'm wasting power by powering the headphone speakers AND the ear buds.

Weight is a BIG deal with long distance backpackers. We spend a lot of time and money in developing our gear kits. We stress on excess grams...

I'd love to find an antenna that is similar to the car-top magnetic deals that connects to the Stiletto. I'd attach it to a shoulder strap, or on top of the pack.

Is THIS what you all are trying to achieve?

ALSO- If I were to try and find a battery re-charger (solar, emergency battery or hand crank generator), what is the specification for the AC Adapter input to the Stiletto? There are many cell phone chargers on the market that may work well for re-charging a Stiletto, but the ones I've seen do not have the correct input... Is there a standard desription to the Stiletto power input plug I can relay to someone to make sure I get the proper plug?

Yeah basically we want a good antenna that isn't the crappy antenna headphones.

DC 5V 2.5A for the Stiletto if I recall.

Default size matters...

Thanks, but what I meant (and should have been more clear on) was the size of the male plug.

I saw a re-charger at Target that had three different jacks, the one that "LOOKED" like the the one for the Stiletto didn;t work. They're described as the cell phone make/model.

Is there a cell phone that uses the same jack as the Stlletto?

I'm really not sure.. You might be better off taking the Stiletto to a Radio Shack and trying Adaptaplugs until you find one that matches.

Post Soloist allows sat antenna to run from battery.

I wanted to add, for whatever its worth, the soloist can run external antenna from battery. There is no sound without the power to the soloist but the satellite works just a good as the home dock.
The plugnplay home dock (SUPH1R) also allows for this, except with sound available.
Im almost sure any antenna adapter will need to draw battery power from the pin outs, to insert that power to antenna line.(i think i saw a post indicating pins 9&10 as a possibility?)

I sure hope sirius can produce a solution before we figure it out...

I just modified my antenna-phones with earbuds. I can get sat reception inside with the internal antenna, so its not an urgent issue for me. I also don't want to cut apart the headphone connector until replacements are available.

My main concern is I need a way to use the magnetic car antenna type some how . I run heavy equipment which usually has a cab which screws up reception using anything less of an antenna like the headphone for SIRIUS or the clip on MYFI antenna for XM . The cigarette lighters in the most of the machines are broke or are 24 volt or I`d buy another dock .
When we shut down for the winter I was still using my MYFI which I had an adaptor to use the magnetic car antenna without a dock and it would run off of the internal battery which I carried an extra so I could get 12 hrs of satalite radio per day . It looks like I am going to have to decide between NASCAR or work all day with out tunes . In reality I could pay Comcast and get incar camera and audio to make up for what I would loose by dropping Sirius but I do like the NASCAR radio during the day also .

Before the S50 had a home dock I used a portable jump start box, something like shown below, to run the car dock. I could go days between charges. You could run a Stiletto car dock, and it may be cheaper than extra Stiletto batteries.

that jump start rig is a good idea . I don`t mind buying another Stiletto battery if the Stiletto would run off of them with a car type antenna some how even if I had to carry it in a dock . I have to limit how much luggage I try to put in the cab as some are small with no extra room at all. The old MYFI had a belt clip that I used to hang on the front of my shirt slap the magnetic antenna outside throw on a set of headphones and I was good to go .I hated to set anything down because of the pounding it would get from the machine shaking as it was operated . If they made a car antenna adapter I`d have no problem at all with the Stiletto

I wouldn't say it was dead, I guess we're just kind of waiting patiently for something else to come out instead of us making it. I've already pretty much ruined my headphones. I was willing to send them to the company that makes adapters, but he didn't think he could do anything without the stiletto and I wasn't willing to send him that.
