If so, I will NEVER update my firmware again.
Anything can be taken away, but will it be? I have no idea!! I think it all boils down to can they address the issue of the sat chipset staying on while in replay mode and library mode while not recording, yet allow the sat chip to come on when there is a scheduled recording then I don't see it changing. If they can't do both, I think at some point they may opt to fix it where when you are listening to replays or libary that it forced the sat chipset off. So again it all depends on how they fix it. I personally think it is doable, but I am no engineer.

Do you see this feature anywhere in the manual? When I've asked about it I was told it was an unsupported and undocumented. In fact they didn't even call it a feature. So, I think if it was a feature it would be documented, scheduled recording while listening.

I am all for them working this out where we can all be happy, but if that undocumented feature just happens to be taken away by a fix that does away with the chipset not turning off when listening to replays and libary, then I will not complain. I've had it happen a couple of times now that my battery was drained in less than 4 hours while on the road listening to Library. To me fixing this is much more important than anyone being able to record one program, while listening to another. Hopefully the fix will allow for both.

If you use Wifi the Stiletto will always attempt to upgrade to the latest version of ZAP, OS and Baseband.

I think that question was already answered. Are folks lined up returning the Stiletto after the last update? I don't think so. You are making assumptions with no facts.

The fact is that I installed an update from sirius that rendered my stiletto inoperable and I returned it for exchange, have you ever heard the expression "once bitten twice shy" I'm quite sure I'm not the only one with this problem , do you have any facts regarding defective radios (serial numbers etc.) I just want to avoid another trip to future shop and I want a radio that plays. I will make another attempt based on your assurance that this is an anomally, but if this does not solve the problem what would you recommend? The fact is that my new stiletto without the update works, and if it ain't broke why should I fix it?

There were a couple of other people that had some issues that also opted to go and exchange theirs, they have since upgraded them successfully and do not report any issues.

Do, I have specific data on defective radios, no I do not, but I do have data enough to know this does not appear to be a widespread issue and appears to be limited to just a few tuners.

Defects in tuners happen, just like the do in cell phones, televisions, computers etc. I upgraded to WMP11 recently that totally screwed up my computer, so is that my computers fault, microsofts fault? Where do I need to lay the blame, does this mean I am never going to upgrade my computer again, can and will Microsoft or HP assure me this won't ever happen again if I upgrade. Can HP assure me that my motherboard won't fail just because when they instructed me to upgrade the bios that it did? I think you see the point.

No one can force you to upgrade if you do not wish too, though my understanding is that if you use Wifi it will indeed download the update and install it with or without your permission.

I guess the point is that it is better to find out if you got a bad tuner now rather than waiting till the next update to find out. LOL Good Luck! By the way is yours an S10 or S100? You never did say. Because the other two that had issues with the upgrade had S10. Makes me wonder if there was a bad batch of tuners. I know I would sure want to know rather than wait to find out later, but maybe the hide and see later works for you.

I can assure you that my so called general statement is specific to my experience with regards to this update and is entirely true. As to this being isolated in nature I would like to point you to the thread titled " S10 stutter problems after update" I own a S10 without wi-fi by the way. Let me make it clear that I will attempt another upgrade with my new S10 but should that fail what would you recommend.

You honestly don't need to make anything clear to me, upgrade at your own descretion. But as I said 2 other people have exchanged and upgrade that did so successfully, which clearly indicates they had defective tuners. Though I think they exchanged theirs for different reasons.

I had the stutter on my S100 before the update and this was not addressed in the upgrade. But there is a work around for it until they do.

So you exchanged your tuner because of the stuttering? The thread you mentioned, was one of the two tuner that were exchanged and upgraded and the new one does not appear to have the issue.

This issue though is known to be caused by the sat chip not shutting down when switching to Library mode or Replay mode and was already present on some tuners prior to the upgrade.

I updated in the home dock using MSS with no problems. Love the clock, but I do miss the channel announcement after I change the channel.

Thanks Backstage.

Default Error Please Wait

Over the last two days I've had two hangups with the new firmware.

Last night, I switched to Internet so I could get the new channels and it just froze and locked up tight. I had to pull the battery with this.

And finally just now actually 6:08. The radio stopped cold. I looked over and there was a picture of the dog on the screen with the message "Error Please Wait.. Restarting".

At that point it did a cold reboot all by itself.

I have had this error once before the firmware upgrade where it reboot itself.

Anyway... Just posting so we can all keep track on any strange things that may happen with the new firmware.

Funny thing, my Stiletto froze just a few minutes before yours. I had undocked from my home dock after I did a full power down so I could switch to regular battery to use at work and it came up with the message that an error ocurred and it needed to perform a factory reset. I pulled battery, waited a few minutes, then tried again but got same message.

I pulled battery one more time and replaced with slim battery and put in my car dock on my way to work. This time it had error during same spot in boot process then it automatically did a rebuild library process and restarted itself. When it came back up I went to Sat mode and it reloaded the channels since all were gone. I checked my Library and Replays and they were all there and I tried a few and they worked.

This is the 3rd time I had my Stiletto freeze (1st since latest upgrade) but this is the only time I didn't lose my data when it was reset. Have they changed the reset process with the new upgrade? Has anyone else been able to reset device without losing data? Before or after the upgrade?

Yes it does not hurt to post these, but it sounds like most are not reproduceable. We've also seen things like this that were just flukes, so until it can be produced with regularity it is pointless to report it. Keep monitoring and I know I don't have to tell you to keep us posted.... LOL

I can now definitively attribute my SL10 problems to a defective unit. No freezes or stutters at all today. I am running it with the update.

Thanks Johnny, that is a great report and confirms what I suspected. I honestly feel if the update itself was the issue that we'd have these issus popping up like crazy and of course that simply isn't the case. What isn't clear is why the update brought this hardware issue out on a few of these devices.
