Default Stiletto 10 Upgrade AVAILABLE (1/17/07)

I got an update this morning!!! It appears to upgrade the ZAP, OS and Baseband. One thing I want to warn folks about that I found. Right after the update, you'll need to go into Sat Mode FIRST. You'll notice you have no channels. It will take about 15 to 30 seconds for the channels list to refresh. You MUST do this before connecting to WIFI (S100 Only) or else your channel list will be gone. So again go into Sat Mode first and let your channel list refresh. This is probably due to the Baseband upgrade.

I found the following issues addressed in this upgrade just from testing it out. (This is not an official list, this is just my list from personal test)

1. When switching from Sat Mode to Wifi Mode, the Sat Chip now turns off, so this resolves the issue with the battery drain some of us were experiencing. No more having to remove the battery or doing a hard restart. (Does not apply to S10)

2. When switching docks, I no longer have to remove the battery in order to get sound and the Stiletto no longer freezes up.

3. Though it is early seems the SIRIUS Connect issue has also been addressed. I switched docks several times in attempting to get this to come up, but it did not. Can't confirm this one for sure just yet.

4. Better wifi performance, seems overall that wifi is much more stable. (Does not apply to S10)

5. Performance. I noticed the menus aren't nearly as sluggish, the menus pop up, changing channels is faster and there is no lag. The updated OS apparently cleaned this up.

6. Channel icons, wallpaper and voice tags; example The NASCAR Channel. Seem the voice tags are only announced when surfing through the channel listing in the categories, it no longer announces when you change to the channel. (good change this use to drive me nuts)

7. Max volume on docks appears to have been removed, now you can turn the volume all the way to 100%.

8. Removes the ability to bookmark or save artist/song seeks from Radio Replays (S10 Only)

9. Last but not least a CLOCK at the bottom middle of the display. This clock takes the place of the Satellite, Internet, Replays, Library tag after about 10 seconds of switching modes. Also when you "LOVE" (not available on S10) a song the little heart and the time switch back and fourth. Pretty cool!

There maybe some other things, but that is what I have found thus far.

How can you get this upgrade: There are two methods available on the S100: Via Wifi or using the MSS software and USB cable connected to your computer with Internet access. Below is a step by step for both methods with pictures. On the S10, you can only upgrade via the MSS software and USB cable connected to your computer with Internet access. Thanks to me_rubin for some of the photos from the previous upgrade.

Update via Wifi: (S100 only)
You can see the download happening on the status line in the service info screen. 10%, 20% and then eventually it says 100% complete.

The download can take as much as 15-20 minutes depending on the connection but will happen in the background you can continue listening to Wifi (You must remain on Wifi for the download to complete) After it finishes verifying the files in the background, you will see the following: (Note it takes a good while for the files to be verified, don't get impatient and shut it down before you see the first screen below.

Now shut down by holding the power putting for 5 seconds or more, or remove the battery. You'll see the tuner reboot as normal.

Update via MSS: (S10 or S100)
If you don't use Wifi you can also do the update via the MSS Software. Connect your Stiletto via USB, start the MSS Software, you should get notified there is an update, if not get the notificiation you can go to Device Setting -> Check For Update. Follow the instructions provided.

You will see:

Once you click okay:

Once this process is complete:

Then you will see the following step by step on the display of the Stiletto as it finishes the upgrade:

Now shut down by holding the power putting for 5 seconds or more, or remove the battery. You'll see the tuner reboot as normal.

Once you start back up, under Settings -> Device -> Device Info, the following version number can be verified:

S10: New ZAP: 1.0.3.21107r New OS: 1.0.3.21107 New Baseband: 00.07.46

S100: New ZAP: 1.0.3.21105r New OS: 1.0.3.21105 New Baseband: 00.07.46

Your Stiletto is now upgraded! Let us know how it goes or if you should have any problems.

L@@k at the picture with the clock, isn't that pretty?

Default New Stiletto Software Update Available 1.03.21105r

Just wanted to let everyone know that a new software update for the Stiletto is available for download. I just downloaded it and installed it. It took about 10-15 min. After the reboot it did a channel update and everything went with out a hitch. First thing I noticed is the clock is now on the screen! Let's hope they fixed all the major bugs!

Unhappy My MSS does not detect update yet?

Strange,

It is 7 AM EST here and my software does not detect the update as being available. I checked my Stiletto's device info and I do not have the current relaase. I'll try to update later and if it still does not see it then I will try to update via wifi during lunch break.

Finished mine with only one Event taking place right in the middle.

Mine took about 40 minutes from the time I started MSS to the time I could see the clock on my stiletto and listen to the radio.

The Screen Captures have changed slightly. After the Software Updating screen, there is a new prompt"Finishing Software Update" that you must press OK for.

After that screen they tell you not to disconnect or remove the device.

Well no sooner did it say Do Not Unplug. My 6am recording Event came up.

Well.... I took the hint from the previous screen and I selected Cancel Recording.

After that things seemed to continue fine.

One confusing thing that happened to me.
After the Update complete, I shut it down I put it in my home dock which is connected to the antenna. It took a long time to reboot.
Eventually it finished rebooting.

When it did finish rebooting, It would not play any channels. I had to do another shutdown again. Then it did play. The second reboot went much faster than the first.

Well It's all working now.

My Boot Loader and Dock versions are different then DAB's But the ZAP and Baseband are the same.

And best of all We have our little Clock.

I remember some people having this issue and they had to do a restore to get it. Did you try from WiFi or MSS. Wifi will take a while to detect and download. MSS should find it as soon as it connects and you are hooked into the internet.

Let us know what happens.

I'm wondering if these people that can't see these updates (I think other people posted about not being able to get the last update also) have stiletto's purchased right at release. I bought mine from BB 12/18/06...just a thought.

this is totally off topic but i bought the original xbox and the first gens had nothing but issues (dirty disc nonsense, etc). could this be some weird thing with "older" stilettos or am I "paranoid" (i don't think that's the right word...)

Mine updated just fine the last time, but this time I'm not getting the update (through MSS). I did get one of the very first units, but since it worked before that seems unlikely as the cause.

Is it possible that they have pulled the update? Anyone getting it to update after 7 am EST?

I'm doing it on a different computer than last time. I'll have to wait until the evening to do it on the one that worked before.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled MSS, but I haven't gotten desperate enough to do a factory restore on the SL100.

hmmm...my buddy aways brings his into work so I'll have him test it out. mine updated just fine but it took forever (as previously reported). I was listening before i left for work (home dock) and the unit was on when I got in my car and docked it. It worked fine driving around in SAT mode but when I stopped at the gas station and got back in my car (I almost never cancel sleep mode when running errands) the stiletto performed a hard boot instead of just a quick awake. When I finally got to work I turned my car off...waited a second...turned it back on and it did a quick awake. Maybe it had to update the Car Dock?

Also, this update appears to have cleared up my Wi-Fi problems. The problems i'm talking about is of course the 30 seconds of play and kick back to the main screen (SAT/WIFI/LIBRARY).

So far this update is what I've been waiting for.

Those of you not getting the update, just a suggestion. Do a hard shut down, remove the battery for a couple of minutes or just remove the battery for a couple o minutes. Reboot and then let it try again. Not sure this will work, but for some last time it did.

Just remember it may take longer as more and more are hitting the server for updates at the same time. I would say this is probably normal.

Good thing I saw this post, because I was about to go to work early but I decided I need to check on something on my computer. So I downloaded the new software and it only took about 20 minutes for me. I like the clock feature now! Thanks DAB.
